I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's quite a topper for your week, but, yeah, could be good timing.

Heh, I was thinking that if it only took me half as long as my training program said than it was probably half the distance, but I could easily be twice as slow as they suppose so the converse doesn't work.

Conversation about the 'award'this week should be interesting, if nothing else( functional supe is PISSED because she believes the work qualifies for a higher calibre of recognition and I can't disagree.) Though I haven't really even given it much though because WEEK FROM HELL. Shit, I need to send a thank you to the head of that anyway. Even though they had nothing to do with it. Silence is loud.

Stupid nutty week.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Do we have Buffistae in Amsterdam? I'm going to Greece in July (woo!) and will be flying through there, and several of the flight options would give me one night's layover. I'd rather not pay for a hotel on top of this stupidly expensive flight if I don't have to, but I don't know if I know anyone who lives there.

Ooh, or I could fly through Rome (also with a one-night layover), where I've never been. Hmm...

Ooh, those both sound amazing! I don't know who might live either place, though.

Don't sleep, explore!

(Not sure if I could manage that or not.)

I do have a good-long-not-seen friend there, but she usually summers in Prague.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Amsterdam and Rome! Two places I would like to go.

Amsterdam probably has the edge right now because of The Fault In Our Stars.

I don't think so. Southern Germany and Southern England yes. Schiphol airport is a city in itself though; it even has a chapel, a "meditation center" and its own branch of the Rijksmuseum. It also, IIRC, has almost-flat reclining chairs, though I imagine these would be pretty full overnight. It's not too far from the city center either. We pass through Schiphol twice every summer, though not in July, sadly.

I've never been to Rome.
