Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
We were making chocolate chip cookies anyway, and we happened to have good beer in the fridge, and it just seemed suddenly blindingly obvious that (a) cold beer and warm cookies is an incredibly comforting combination, and (b) it's fun to give Scola treats. Surprise treats are even better!
Long day, very weary. Started with Matilda's first communion (it's hard to see in this picture, but she's wearing the necklace SA gave her as a wee infant), lots and lots of family, Emmett being incredibly patient and sweet with her and all the lots and lots of family, washing all the dishes in the universe, and, inspired by -t and Kristin and other recent Buffista converts to running, getting off my ass and dragging it 2 miles around the track at Kezar. I am a tired, tired woman. And there's still almost 200 pages of copyediting to do before bed.
Homemade cookies no less! That is the way to treat Tom.
Matilda is absolutely angelic in that picture. So sweet.
Looks like it's going to be GoT-> pork & bok choy stir fry -> The Good Wife -> maybe cheesecake
Clearly, corners of the internet don't know that JazzFest trumps anything.
This is that, what did Patricia Arquette call it? The dark net?
Oh, my, first communion! Congratulations to Matilda!
I accomplished the painting of the insides of two bookshelves, and got them into the house (so now the house smells of paint). And I got my toenails done, and stopped by my sister's house, where my niece fed me dinner. And then I loaded up four boxes of books into the bookshelves, which took up hardly any space at all. This is going to take a while. Any local Buffistas need slightly-aging cardboard boxes?
Now I finally get to watch the season finale of Vikings. The main question for me is whether Lagertha gets to be awesome, and I'm pretty sure the answer is YES.
I almost went to bed at about 6pm, but managed to rally and go to the store and buy two kinds of ice cream. Totally necessary for sick-food right? Um.
Then I read a book by some Hairpin/Buzzfeed writer who is 25 and has never had a boyfriend. On the one hand, the book was pretty cute and ever-so-familiar when describing futile crushes and deep readings of texts and glances with friends, etc etc. On the other hand, I kept reading thinking "girl, if you really wanted this, you'd have it already...have you considered that maybe all your celebration of female friendship is actually that you're gay and just don't know it?" Which is not to suggest that anyone who hasn't had a date (though she has) by age 25 is somehow a repressed lesbian. But I am giving her a bit of a side-eye.
In my lack of productiveness, I've been glancing through the list of pilots for the season. [link] Check out the descriptions for ABC's Blackish, Cristela, and Far East Orlando. Interesting.
Cheesecake is in the oven. Now I have to stay awake for another hour to take it out of the oven. I did not think this through.

It seems I watch nothing in real time. One of many benefits of Buffistas is letting others test new shows so I don't have to waste my time. No, I don't get to discuss real time, but still a good trade off.

Mmmm, warm cheesecake. The only cheesecake I have ever enjoyed was a very mild flavored variety that was served warm. It was a French recipe that is in some box with my cookbooks.
Served warm, eh? I am intrigued. The only flavoring in mine is vanilla and lemon zest; it mostly tastes like cream cheese.
When my recipes get unpacked I will share the recipe. It was lovely. In theory I don't see why any couldn't be served warm.
