I like my artichokes stuffed.
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I just don't even understand that. I've only tried stuffed artichokes a couple of times, and they are okay, I guess, but not really better than non-stuffed artichokes and I'd rather have my stuffing inside a bird soaking up all those juices.
The thing that intrigues me about roasting artichokes (besides how roasting is inherently deliciousness enhancing) is that you slice the artichokes in half and scoop out the prickly thready bits you don't eat before you roast. Wacky, but if it's really not hard and works, pretty cool.
I like my artichokes cooked by somebody else, with all the inedible bits already removed.
egad ita, that guy needs something else to think about.
Those stuffed artichokes look delicious, but they look like work to prepare. But I will happily eat one if someone else will make it for me. See also: homemade ravioli and spanikopita.
Craig Ferguson is leaving the Late Late Show in December. Sad now.
Erin, your approach sounds very reasonable, and how they often suggest parents do for weddings, all "I can give you $X, and if you want to spend more, that's your money". Good luck, from what you've said about her before I'm sure there'll be drama. :(
In other news, I can haz roommate! Old one is moving out, but a friend came to see the place tonight and said it'll work great, she loves the location, so she's going to move in in July. That'll leave me without a roommate in June, but I'm willing to do that in exchange for having a roommate I know and like. Excellent.
Yay, meara!
That's a bummer, Amy. I don't even watch the Late Late Show but I'm sad to hear it.
That is a wonderful relief, meara!
Love artichokes so much. Steamed in my microwave, hearts in a jar, stuffed if I get them in a restaurant. Yummy yummy. Now I have to buy some tomorrow.
I don't bother with the trimming. Much of the stem gets consumed too.
Timelies all!
Got home from FKO around 9. The con was fun, Gary did a great job. I got a call from my folks about 15 minutes ago. My uncle died tonight. They don't expect me to come to the funeral, but I will send a condolence card and something in his memory.(Haven't figured out if it will be a donation or getting a tree planted in Israel in his memory. After a good night's sleep, I'll make that decision.)
I need to vent or cry or cry and vent or something.
nothing bad, just everything.
McPhee is so completely over my animals and I get it, I do. The cats are old and a bit senile and one has a tendency to pee on things every month or so (today it was the tile floor, so not nearly as bad as the carpet or laundry) and they throw up like every single day it seems and it's gross and I have no idea what to do. Maybe I should close them up in non-carpetted part of the house when I leave in the morning, move their food and litter into that space.
I rented a rug doctor to do the carpets tonight and that has been the last 2.5 hours of my life. 1 room done.
I still need to do the hall and the front living room.
oh and I have work to do.
Maybe I can just to the carpet along the wall where the cats previously peed (now I have down pee pads and have furniture covering that whole wall).
and I am socially going crazy because I don't get out and see people, so I decided to host a derby party for the few people I've met around here and….23 people invited - 4 responses, all no. People are out of town or kids have games.
And I was supposed to plant herbs tonight, but that didn't happen and now those plants are still in the kitchen sink, which makes it dirty.
My down comforter has a tear in it (that I did not know about), so as I was moving the furniture in my room to do the carpets I found feathers EVERYWHERE. So I need to fix that.
I have crap everywhere and it is impossible to navigate around when I really need to clean (like now) and I need to just dump it all, but do I? no.
