Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
But that's just beig a much better visual learner than auditory learner.
Yeah, if you read aloud to me without visual aids, I will lose the thread within minutes, unless, like you said, I'm taking notes.
I know the interwebs have affected my concentration/attention span, too.
What Steph said about the difference between distraction and ADD. Ironically because the DH can hyperfocus the kids don't bug the ever living snot out of him when he drives because he doesn't really hear them, but I just can't do that. I hear and try to respond to all their question AND pay attention to the road.
Burrell, is this a local anesthetic?
No, you're not being nosy, and yes, I'm sensitive to local anesthetics. I've passed out twice now, but the two occasions were over 20 years apart and I've had numerous encounters with local anesthetics between the two incidents. Luckily I was lying down both times :-). So sensitive but not allergic. Obviously I want enough to block any pain, I just don't know how deep they need to cut. It looks pretty small to me, but I know they want clean margins, etc. Don't think he's using the fancy technique, Mons or whatever, since he said it'll be 1/2 hour surgery.
I interviewed for a job back in December. I thought it went pretty well, didn't hear anything. Mid-January, sent a follow-up email to both people I had interviewed with, who had been very friendly, "we'll definitely keep you up to date on the process, contact us any time." No answer to my email.
They emailed me today to apologize for the late notice and tell me that the job had been filled.
1) No, REALLY?
2) That's almost ruder than just never contacting me, right?
re: cataracts: the doctor said the astigmatism would drive me nuts after I did the first one, but I'm not sure the insurance will cover the surgery for an eye that doesn't have a cataract. Unless they go with "My doctor said I need the other side as well," but insurance companies can be buttheads. A clear glass/reading bifocal would be an option, I hope.
re: yards: Be glad you don't live in Utah, it's a violation to let your yard go, either weedy or unwatered. Yes, this is a desert, yes, watering lawns is stupidly wasteful. But Utah wants to believe it's a lush state, where the pioneers made the desert bloom. And the past few years we've been in a drought, but so what?
Spring in Utah. It's snowing outside my office windows.
I had a crazy dream last night/this morning where a bunch of friends and I were at some kind of nature park with all kinds of wildlife (also, my group of friends included Dwayne Johnson, so thanks last night's viewing of the GI Joe movie).
Anyway, one of the things you could do at this park was play tug-of-war with a lion! Which is awesome, right?
That does sound awsesome!
That reminded me that I had a dream that I was thinking about buying a house that I had been renting (in the dream), and my neighbors and friends were Allyson and Kristin, and Adam Scott's mother. Adam Scott was going to move in with his mother, thought, and we were all close friends. The rest of the neighborhood was not so good, and I felt guilty about gentrifying. Also, I somehow got stuck on top of a tree and piled cardboard boxes while I was sleeping, and I couldn't figure out how to get down. Adam Scott was SO NICE in my dream!
Adam Scott was SO NICE in my dream!
He's nice IRL, according to people I know who have interviewed him.
He's in a vodka ad right now with Alison Brie and while it doesn't make me want to buy vodka, it REALLY makes me want to go to whatever party they're shopping for!
That's good to hear! It was so much fun, living next to him, and Allyson and Kristen! Even if my house was sort of a dump!
Random question: Does the world really need antibacterial Q-tips?
The antibacterial stuff is to keep the Q-tips "fresh", not to disinfect your ears.
