I think I was supposed to see it coming that my unemployment just ran out, but I didn't. So ... that happened.
Ack. I think I'm afraid of that and I'm not on unemployment (although I am a pessimist and assume I will be soon--we have a re-org coming up--who knows?). It's not even like you can just work harder and replace the money from somewhere else just like that.
Are you taking some time just to roll around in your feels on that, or are you just marching on (or solutioning, as they say here)?
Comcast is shocked and sorry that I don't have internet or phone, so how about a service appointment on Friday?
I hate them so much.
Sheesh.
What state are you in, Amy? (I should know, but there's a bunch of A(i)m(ee)(y)s on the board. MA is nice in that they don't automatically assume you're trying to rip off the state, and they also send you notices about when you have to re-up (or in the case of no unemployment extension, just get thrown into financial freefall.
The Comcast office is playing Frozen. Maybe I'll just stay here all day and watch it.
Exile report: The library has way better wifi than Panera. Hooray for my tax dollars.
I went to visit my family this weekend. I had a pedicure with my sister on Saturday, and now my toenails are green (green on purpose) and I just had to IMDb a thing because the nail salon was playing something that had Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth in it and Nick Searcy was Liam's dad, and I had to make sure that it wasn't Hannah Montana because Oh Nick Searcy No.
Spoiler: it wasn't Hannah Montana.
I also had to watch part of Hop, which is 25% at Rotten Tomatoes for a reason. On the other hand, I got gravy and also blueberry pie. If my train hadn't been so delayed that I got home around 2am, I wouldn't have many complaints.
P.S. There were SO MANY bunnies in my parents' yard this weekend.
The good news is that the library's wifi is good enough to stream Netlix. The bad news is that watching Parks and Rec is way more interesting than working.
On Saturday I hit up Office Max to buy envelopes, labels, ink, and stamps so I can get the first round of donation requests letters out for CJ's search and rescue team (I'm the Silent Auction organizer this year). Anyway, it was a total of about $160 worth of stuff. I zapped my card and it was declined. I checked my account on my phone and the expected money was in my accounts. We tried running it as credit - declined. Finally wrote a check, but since they get checks so rarely these days (and frankly I was suprised I had my checkbook in my purse) that they had to look up the process. While they did that I tried to call my credit union to see wtf was going on. They were eventually able to run my check as an electronic payment and I got my stuff. Never go through to the credit union.
I meant to call them again yesterday but forgot. Today they answered on the first ring. "Oh, yeah, our system was down Saturday". Gee, thanks. I was worried it had been blocked for fraud or something, was embarassed even though the Office Max folks were great about the whole thing, and it was an oooops? Grrrrrr.
