Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Yeah, I didn't understand half of that. And it does seem a little shady to just copy old articles and put them up on a different site? Unclear!
And it does seem a little shady
Do I even need to say "consider the source"?
Hahaha with the dranking. I have a recurring task on my to-do list that just says "Weed." Which is fine, except that when I was using Astrid (sigh, Astrid) it had all these cutesy phrasing popups it would use, so it would cheerily inform me: "Time for: weed!" And I was always, yes, yes it is. Oh, wait, you mean go outside and work on the yard? I dunno.
This is my first year with allergies. I know mine are mild and they're probably just because it's so bad this year, but OMG do I want to just kill everything. I guess it's good I never got around to planting that flowering Japanese cherry in my front yard. But seriously, scorched earth.
The only problem for me right now is that the SO is traveling again, and I usually use him as my external brain to remember what time I take meds, since the allergies give me the dumb. So I'm on my own now. Maybe I should just post here and you all can tell me.
That on and on thing happens with a lot of fans. I've gotten pretty good at recognizing when one of my buddies is being overwhelmed and needs an exit. At the last show we threw I both physically got between one set of fans and the headliner, so he could at least start to tear down while I was moving them off him. And then once he'd escaped completely to the green room where there was food, I had to retrieve the opening act. He was funny, because I was all apologetic: I'm sorry, I usually give you guys a signal to give if you need someone pulled off you, but forgot to do that with you ahead of time so I wasn't sure if you wanted in that conversation or not. And he was all, yeah, no, you're very perceptive, thanks for rescuing me. So then I wished I'd done it sooner. But seriously, why can't people take hints?
I feel...unsurprised about the forking.
Do I even need to say "consider the source"?
But... the people on the fork are the anti-FE faction? I actually would like more of an explanation of what's going on and how I should feel about it.

I try to interrupt her, and she won't let me! My direct report who has worked here for three weeks! Anyway.
Oh, did I mention? My father's not moving today, but will tomorrow.

Nicely put.
From what I can gather:
- TV Tropes is heavily dependent on Google Ads.
- Google Ads has a strong anti-pr0n policy, and will cut off a site at the drop of a hat.
- TV Trope's admins(presumably FE and others) have been engaging in some heavy-handed censorship in order to keep the oxygen supply flowing.
- The admins have instituted a talk-to-the-hand policy when people complain about this.
What I've never seen spelled out is exactly how much money is FE making off of other people's free labor, and where does the money go? (Maybe this is spelled out somewhere on TVTropes, I've never tried to look very hard).
I think this chapter I'm working on was written by someone who doesn't know how to use quotation marks, capital letters, or bullets. Not everything should be bulleted! That defeats the point!
Thank you, Tom!

Perhaps mac.
