Steph, my FIL is amazing. In all seriousness, he shouldn't be here. He got a blood infection right about the same time we got engaged. The only reason he was even able to come to the wedding was that his OT and PT came with him, bless them forever. And since the wedding, he's just been bound and determined to get better. They said he wouldn't live. Then they said he wouldn't go home. Then they said he wouldn't be able to live alone. Then they said he wouldn't be able to go back to work.
And here we are two years later, and he's still plugging along. It's really, truly amazing. He's amazing, and I love him dearly. We're having dinner with him tonight. It's the first time I've seen him since Patrick's birth. We're going to bring all the pictures and the treasure box we got from the hospital. I expect many tears.
Aw, vw, that's so wonderful!
Aw, vw, he sounds awesome. And I vote coloring -- like Steph, I find it very soothing.
You are so lucky that not only did you get Lloyd, who is all kinds of incredible all on his own, but also his family, who ALSO seem to be all kinds of incredible. That's so wonderful. I hope their love is helping you right now.
Hi vw! Yes, I find coloring soothing too. It is very helpful to have the abundance of loving family companionship. I understand where your FIL was coming from. People that love you and Lloyd want to do something, anything, to feel useful.
eta: why does your so often end up you?
I'm glad you have supportive people, vw.
I am so furious with Comcast right now that I'm about ready to sign usup for DSL. Or I would, if I had a working phone or internet.
Tales of the public library: My coworker just fielded the following question at the desk: "Do you have any books on how to open a strip club?" (We do not. But we have a lot of books on starting a business in general, as well as classes.)
"Do you have any books on how to open a strip club?" (We do not.
I don't even know WHY I have a library card!
Timelies all!
Second trip to the kosher supermarket yielded the things I couldn't find on the first trip. (Also helps, that it wasn't insanely crowded like it was on Sunday.)
