Hey there Cindy! Nice to see you 'round here. I hope a new job swoops you up soon.
Thank you, Burrell. Same here. I am still gobsmacked that TWoP is gone. Thank goodness they're holding onto the archives.
Cindy!
msbelle! How is your handsome Mac?
Thanks Cindy - it's a big blow to our household and the internet, for sure!
Jessica, same here. I want Ethan to know just how damned good he was. He was certainly the best edit I ever had. My eldest is heading off to college in the fall. I don't even know how to deal, right now. :(
Sheryl, hi!
Hey Cindy!
My mother called me at 2pm to offer me a ride home from work. Then. I was in the middle of training, but saw her name pop up on my phone, so of course I ducked out to see if it was an emergency, and of course it wasn't, and it was just extra annoying. I did leave work at 5, which was exciting. I'm now girding my loins before heading back upstairs to see how they are doing. (She said fine, this afternoon....)
In happy work news, the unpaid intern is a jewel. Very knowledgeable, very selfless, brought up the topic of a project she needs to do for her internship but insists that she'll do it outside of her work schedule. If only she wasn't going back to classes in the fall. Le sigh. She stayed far past scheduled hours today just to be sure she finished what she had been working on (rather than shelving it like I would have -I have lost so much integrity).
What are people's opinions on have-a-heart traps? I read one article that said it's tantamount to killing them, as you're then depositing the critters in unfamiliar territory and they die for lack of knowing where there is water food and shelter. Not that I'm going to stop, but I want to be honest with myself about what I'm doing with these adorable pests.
Julie, every study I've seen indicates that they either die from being in unfamiliar territory or accomplish amazing feats of returning home and becoming your problem again.
I took Bob the groundhog about 10 miles away as the crow flies. I'm copacetic with the cute menace perishing. It's like my issue with sticky traps. I wish I could just bomb them and be up front about killing them.
Killing threads and woodchucks since 2014.
Thanks Burrell and TB. I think that picture rocketed to the most notes I've gotten just in the time I was off seeing Captain America.
I read something about some of the people from TWOP starting up a new entertainment oriented site. Is it a lot of them? What is the site?
I guess I'm the only loser who's stuck working Saturdays for the forseeable future and therefore going to bed early.
New paid hire finally got back to me about making up her hours. So at least I haven't lost the fairly skilled labour. Still need to have a frank talk about appropriate protocols regarding unexpected absences. I already have her the "respect us and respect yourself" talk on her first day. And even with food poisoning I've been able to message that I'll be late/out. So I already feel disrespected. I'm walking a thin balance of not having anyone to replace her, yet not wanting to put up with any bullshit. And there I'd been all a flutter that I'd had someone in the bag to take D's absence over. (I'd be totally cool with her out-sickness if she'd bothered to contact me before she decided to head home instead of back to work).
Speaking of Cleveland: [link] -- it could also clearly happen in Atlanta or Washington, just for starters, but it's pretty funny either way.
