Kat, that's devastating for that poor family--and really, for any parent. What -t said, "Once you pass a certain threshold of bad there's no sensible comparing, imo." is timeless wisdom.
Suzi, go you with the mad unpacking, sorting, and putting away. But ouch, your poor finger!
Timelies all!
Flowers are starting to bloom, which makes me happy. Now we just need more sun.(Spring's my favorite season.)
Thanks Bev. I am NOT doing any more tonight.
My finger is better today. Tender but the swelling is way down.
The way my work area is setup in the new place, I can see out the window, which is so nice. Today I have watched the trees outside get snowed on this morning - 6+ inches - to the snow melting and almost being gone from the trees this afternoon.
Did y'all see that the Mozilla CEO has resigned after 11 days? I hadn't realized that the whole mess was caused by a $1000 Prop 8 donation 6 years ago. Not that I'm happy about that, but just wow.
My sister, my mom, and a couple of my mom's friends came into Chicago for the afternoon, so I fed them a free lunch and toured them around my office. I took the afternoon off to take them to the Disney Store and American Girl and the Hershey store, and then to an early dinner. They're on a train now and I'm back at the office for a bit before I meet up with friends for Cap2. So all I have to do is avoid internet spoilers for two more hours.
I am trying to figure out what to do tomorrow, when we are supposed to have pouring rain all day. I mean, Allegheny Cemetery is probably not on. Most of the things I want to do have at least some outside component.
I got my picture taken today in front of the house my grandfather was born in.
Are you in Pittsburgh, flea? There is a ton of things to do at the Carnegie Science Center, but one of the things I wanted to do the last time we were there was to check out the SportsWorks, it sounded fun. [link]
I found out today that my car's engine is probably going to blow up soon (or something technical like that, as in STOP WORKING FOREVER AND TURN INTO A LARGE PAPERWEIGHT) because the framistats are mangling the phlogiston.
I think I'll get a second opinion to be sure, but as the mechanic who checked out the engine wasn't trying to sell me on replacing the engine (his suggestion was trade the car in while it's still running) I fear it will only be confirmatory.
