I can talk to a rock when inclined. It's never gone too awkward, but I also have good verbal extrication skilz.

So...Pumpkin and Loki are leery of jumping on the posts now. I presume all the activity, smells and how they look different now. Which is a good thing! Just funny. This was all started when Loki began the stripping process with a clumsy jump that shredded the poorly adhered latex paint. And I was really considering relocating the cats when I varnished (impatience won out...and they kept their distance.) And now, I've watched both run up to leap, hesitate, emergency abort and divert.

I'm all This Old House WITH CATS. I bet Norm and Kevin would be flummoxed.

Because books.

She is, Kat.

I'm sorry for your bad day. Overcooked chicken that's not dry is a good thing, though, right?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

My DVR cut off the very end of HIMYM. The last thing I saw was Ted standing under Robin's window holding the blue french horn.

Did anything happen after that?

Kat, I'm sorry today sucked. It's hard to find a good balance (and I say that as a single person!) You guys are probably also a bit lego-exhausted.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww, that sucks, Kat. It's hard to balance.

Today's second run into town was basically all fail. Well, I got the deposit made. But I called the propane company at 3:57 and got their answering service telling me they close at 4:00. I KNOW! So I have to call on the dot tomorrow at 7:00 when they open and hope to sneak in on the Tuesday delivery. If that fails, then I have to go back to the bank and take the cash back out I just put in to go buy firewood.

Then I went to the post office, where I found my Blue Cross statement and new cards, finally. I called them at 4:57 to pay them, but got voicemail saying they closed at 5:00. I KNOW! So I have to call them tomorrow and trust that they're as good as their word which said that we'd have until mid-month to pay the first premium even though we are theoretically covered by the new policy as of tomorrow. Which I hope is true because we are theoretically lapsed from the old policy as of tonight.

Then tomorrow I have to cover classes alone. The SO is headed to Kansas to record on a super seekrit project that I am so excited for him about. Wow, grammar. Anyway, if it pans out the way I think it might, it might a) put him on the same record as some fairly large names in our side of the industry and b) mean royalties for the family who has supported us for years and only stopped when they ran out of royalties. And then he's sticking around for the weekend to promote at another screening of the movie and to speak at our supporting church.

Which is all great. But means that the last week of promoting before this totally other concert we're throwing next Monday will now all fall to me. I hate promoting! Dave is good at motivating people to come to shows. I am good at making sure the shows are kickass. But I don't have any tech to run this show other than clearing the stage, and the hospitality is minimal. So I just need to spend my week running around taking care of getting people there; flyers, church speaking, newspaper, maybe radio if I'm lucky. So I just have to make sure I'm off my ass and doing it.

I would rather take naps.

Anyway, since this whole day ended up kerfucked, I opted for a Guinness instead of the hot cocoa.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Did anything happen after that?

Nope. There were a couple of shots of them looking at each other meaningfully, but nothing more.

Liese, that's ...a lot! Of a lot!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ok, so now I also need to make two major financial decisions that need to be resolved tonight. BLARGH, world, come at me before I have the Guinness, not after!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Our landlord left a note that the power will be off for 2-3 hours starting at 10am tomorrow. This is not so good because Spring Break and a rainy day predicted. Maybe we will go hang out at Joseph Beth.

Take them to see the new Muppet Movie! It's good.

I know I should be an adult capable of functioning on my own when the SO is not here, but this one got sprung on us two ways. First, the opportunity just came up last week. And then this week we realized it lined up to let him to the second promo, which extended the trip from a few days to a week. So it's tripping all my "I MUST PLAN FOR THIS" triggers in an ugly way.
