Also, you can tell it's not gonna have a happy ending when the main guy's all bumpy.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

No one told me ita was posting again! I guess that is what I get for not popping into Natter more often. It is good to see you posting. I have no good insomnia advice, but I hope you find something that works for you soon.

One method of meditation/visualization I used to use when trying to fall asleep was to imagine writing numbers in sand, counting backward from 100, with tide washing away each consecutive number. Often I wouldn't get past 90 before I was out. But if I made it to 50 without losing focus, I knew that sleep wasn't coming right then.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

ita, so good to see you posting. You've been missed.

I'm sorry the pain stuff still isn't resolved, though.

Marathons and vacations and bras and stuff! I've missed a lot. Took me a while to catch up. And now, gone again for a while.

OK, this is something Buffistas would appreciate: [link]

(And since I'm not ita, it's totally SFW unless musical theater is a problem.)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I take 5mg melatonin to fall asleep. It doesn't always keep me asleep, but it's still an improvement.

Who watches Sleepy Hollow? My kids saw the trailer (I was reading an article about accents!) and they are sort of obsessed with it. What's the violence/sex rating?

Casper, of course, thinks Ichabod Crane is hot. Then to prove that just because someone has an American accent on TV does not mean they are American, I showed her clips of Idris Elba, and she thinks he's hot too. At least the child has taste.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Some potentially scary violence (Headless Horseman and all). Little to no sex.

IME it's usually pretty well telegraphed when the scarier stuff is coming up, but I'm not a parent so hard to evaluate on that basis. Overall it's more fun than scary, and great character relationships.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

What brenda said about Sleepy Hollow! It may be more scarey than inappropriate-agewise... but your kids are pretty smart and resilient.
