Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Laura, I think the twins did have a good bday. They went to school (where they got stickers and crowns) and then they came home. We went out to dinner at Yard House and Lori and her family joined us, which was awesome.
We'll got to Legoland this weekend (with a stay in the very excellent Legoland hotel).
I haven't been to the Grand Canyon in a long time. That is a place that pictures do not do justice. Pictures are pretty and all, but being there in person is something else. That said, try not to overdo, Suzi, you're still healing.
I hope it's three months and done, Kat.
Thanks, 't. Me too.
We have off on Monday for Cesar Chavez Day. I find it weird that we celebrate a labor leader by taking a day off of our public sector jobs.
I need to go to Legoland! I'd take the boys, but I suspect they are too big to be allowed to do anything. Maybe we could borrow some little ones.

Indeed. That is why I am newly determined to get healthy. I want off of the stupid drugs. Don't like it.
I think everyone should know what a gun is capable of, preferably by shooting on, but observing one in real life will do. Too many people make their judgements by seeing them on TV or the movies. I don't think everyone should have one--hell, there are lots of people who I think should never, ever have the means to get their hands on one. But seeing them in action can counter a lot of the fear. Better decisions are made when fear isn't in the equation. But always respect what they can do.

I also can't turn down a good Groupon. $29 for 2 people, 1 hour of use of a lane, gun rental, eye/ear protection, $10 towards ammunition, and...something else. I can't remember what. That's a really good deal for $29. And for some reason Groupon gave me $10 off any deal over $25, so it was $19 in the end. Can't beat that.
How strong is your grip? For caliber, I recommend .380 or 9mm. .45s have a hell of a kick, and my hands are too small for me to be comfortable holding something the size of a .45.

Probably average or weak. And I have small hands, to boot.
.380 is what Scully shoots. Not that that informed my decision on what pistol to buy, no, not at all, it had nothing to do with me getting the very same pistol she used.
edit: any reputable range should make sure you're comfortable with a weapon before they let you use it. I have been to ranges where they say "No, don't go for the girly gun!" We don't go back to those places.

It's definitely a little boring for older folks. It's set up in a lovely way -- lines of major attractions have a place where little folks can play with legos while adults wait. It's perfect for the twins in terms of size but not so great for older people, though there are definitely a handful of bigger rides.
