I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, yeah? Okay.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Seriously regretting my choice to volunteer as the webmaster for my choir. People, it is the end of the day and all I want is to drink my tea and read my book for half an hour before bed, and instead I'm uploading files and updating text and fixing formatting and blah blah blah. In the words of my people, I am full of don't wanna.

[link] Halfway down the rail. Major pain in the ass, given it crosses the upstairs spindles and the second floor floor. And you can barely fit a finger in there. BUT I DID IT!

Can already see a place I want to darken the stain, but that's minor. On an easy part.

Also did a round of stripper on the detail work of the bottom post. I expect I'll need to sharpie there- there's white paint in corners that will not budge. I think it is made of platinum. Brown sharpie. Or paint. Applied with an eyeliner brush.

I'm fucking insane, y'all.

You are. But in a very useful way.

Punishingly Intricate

dag, sara. Makes me feel like a lazy ass homeowner. Although, I have to say I'm pretty happy I have neither the skills nor the ability to do any involved DIY stuff here because then I might have thought we could redo the bathroom on our own or something. My contractor friend called to give me his daily update today and said that my house was "a nightmare." It's aged plumbing, that is, evidently. He's basically having to replace it all. I wished a new house on him for his next job! (Which I know he won't get because his next job is on our friends' newly purchased old home!.)

My day was super long at work and now I just want to sit and drink a beer and watch some stories but that means I'll stay up too late. Why can't I both have time to chill out and to sleep?? Stupid mortgage and rehab payin job.

lisah, I'll face that eventually. Hopefully after your contractor recovers. I won't be redoing the fixtures if I can help it, but the plumbing, and really, that'll do in the floors, but I want to keep/restore them, but I'm not dealing with subflooring and I only have 1 bathroom so.... I'll have to partially move in with a neighbor!

I'm pretty good at differentiating between projects I can actually do and ones outside my reach. A moulding here or there, paint jobs, even refinishing the stairs (though whether I WANT to do it myself is a whole other question...)sure. Refinishing my porch and replacing the beadboard? Garage door? Anything where the measurements simply cannot be fucked up? Anything above my head and a ladder? Hi, have my bank account.

Damn, Strix! Congrats!

Why can't I both have time to chill out and to sleep??

Ah, yes, that's what I want! I was having trouble figuring out my current malaise, but that puts it perfectly.
