Oh my god, I think I remember that scene.
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I used to spend summers drawing the costumes from As the World Turns and Guiding Light. For some reason I was particularly enamored of the way Shannon from ATWT dressed- pretty jewel tones and lots of scarves. So I guess you can say that soap operas lead me to doing costumes...
I'm afraid I was utterly spoiled by my spring break last week. Now I'm back at work and so sleepy and unfocused. (OK, that's probably due to waking up with the kid at 5:30. I am SO looking forward to the day when she can wake up and just hang out on her own for a while without waking us up.)
I just love finding other GL people. GH was so popular where I grew up, I was on my own (except for my mom).
You can't beat storylines like this:
She has been married nine times to seven different men, has been diagnosed as a manic-depressive, presumed dead various times in which she lost her memory and thought she was an Amish woman and lived the life as a princess, undergone a battle with Dolly, a clone who attempted to overtake her life after her husband allowed a reproduction of his wife after she apparently died and traveled through time.
Kate, would she be content if you put books or something else quiet near her crib? I used to do that with my kids, and it sometimes worked for a little while.
Reva is literally the best.
After all that, the think that I felt was truly unbelievable with Reva is that they did a storyline about her having a baby AFTER they did a storyline about her going through menopause! I think. I watched very sporadically after 1999.
I just found a job posting that ended with this:
The consultant must have the ability to manage the creation of multiple documents at once which includes cross-referencing for consistency and contradictions.
A strong tolerance for ambiguity is a must as well.
I watched really sporadically in the 90s. I think I remember the Amish thing, but the rest of it not so much. I do remember Marah being born. I had a mad crush on Josh, too.
Kate, would she be content if you put books or something else quiet near her crib? I used to do that with my kids, and it sometimes worked for a little while.
That would be worth a try, Amy. She's so used to one of us coming in when she wakes up, though, that it might take her a while to figure out that there are other things she can do when she wakes up, especially when it's still pitch-black out (like this morning).
Really, I think we need to get her a little more used to doing stuff on her own even when we're awake. (That's one of the downsides of being a working parent, to me: I feel like I "owe" her all my time on the weekends because I don't spend weekdays with her, so when she's home, she's usually doing something with either M or me, and doesn't spend as much time amusing herself as she could.)
