Wesley: Illyria can be...difficult. Testing her might be hard without getting someone seriously hurt. Angel: We'll make Spike do it. Wesley: Good.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

someone has called with a survey about natural gas, which I honestly know fuck-all about

I know that butane is a bastard gas.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Go, Bob!

Natural gas:

It explodes.

Note that its promoters say it's a clean-burning fuel. They ignore the fact that it's a greenhouse gas and way more leaks from pipelines and natural gas production than is officially acknowledged.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Never send a woman who doesn't like sweets to get the donuts. I got classics and crullers (or whatever the long skinny things are called) and chocolate and glazed. It looked supremely boring in the box.

I'm receiving mixed messages now. First it was "let her make her own mistakes" then just recently it was "tell her what to do and call her on her bullshit" and now I'm back to "don't lead her". And in a way today and yesterday I did both. She had an idea, but it was my prompting and rushed timetable that made it happen when it did and I can't say if she would have taken the initiative to follow through on her own.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Yay Bob!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

and he doesn't have to go back for a YEAR!

Hooray!

All the things I think I know about natural gas are actually about propane, I think. I'm definitely more up on petroleum products in general. What little I might actually know would be from having a roommate who worked for The Gas Company 25 years ago...

So, I had to stay late for a meeting (and I didn't take a lunch today because too much to do) BUT the meeting started with my grandboss saying I must be doing something right to get this particular account to want to be doing more business with us, and ended with a nebulous plan for me to present to my boss, grandboss and great-grand boss re: this account's requirements moving forward. Pretty positive, on the whole, if also the reward for doing a good job being more work. Hopefully it will also be more money at some point. That would be nice.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Speaking of, we all just watched a keeshund puppy (think smallish dog wrapped in an enormous poofy grey and white coat) arrive at the park and promptly get rolled into a huge mud puddle by another dog.
