Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Good luck!
A few days I signed the offer letter for the new gig, I got an email from someone at a firm I applied to last fall, asking if I was still looking for work. Today I emailed her, told her I had just taken this job, but that it was time-limited and I would probably start looking again in 6-8 months.
Surprisingly enough, she still wants to talk to me, which is comforting.
On another board I frequent, re: Fred Phelps
"I'll be dancing at his funeral, in leather chaps and pearls and high heels!"
Another person: "Will the chaps be assless?"
"No, I'll be in them!"
That's funny, no matter who you are.
Fingers crossed for both of you, Consuela and aurelia.

Thanks! It is a huge relief to know that I will be operating in future from a position of some security. The biggest difference, I suspect, will be that I won't give off that eau de desperation of the unemployed...
I had to be like "It is listed, I'm telling you now, and that other issue was already dealt with, let me RESTATE WHAT I WROTE THE FIRST TIME" Ugh. I feel like they don't even bother to read emails you send, just glance and reply, and then when there's two of them doing that they just start a chain reaction of glance-and-reply misinformation.
I freaking work in an office that does this vocally. Spouting off information like they have any clue, "Well, I heard." No, honey, you were listening in to my conversation, only heard part of it and spun it off into your own fiction. Which is cool on AO3 but less helpful in the office.
One of my favorite mid-century quirky houses in this area is for sale. Looks like the place needs work, but omg, that price is $40K less than what things are going for. That could do a lot of work.

That is adorable, msbelle!
Also, were there really no Natter posts for nine hours? Eek!
That's crazy. Our night shift must have been busy.
Good lord -- my officemate just gave notice, and apparently the other Jesse H got canned! I never even met him! The email says "by mutual agreement," but his last day was yesterday, so....
Hah. I have an old friend who abruptly left the Navy under what he described as a "mutual agreement" which still makes me laugh and laugh.
Funny: with baseball set to come back, they are having a permafrost problem at Comiskey.
Less funny: my house closing is being delayed because the seller won't dewinterize yet.
Now
I'm ready for winter to end.
