These girls have the most beautiful dresses. And so do I -- how about that?

Punishingly Intricate

she's disappointed that she never got to have a reveal. Mom! You live in real life!

My friends totally staged one of these for me when they helped me do the interim redo of my kitchen after I moved in (before I was able to manage the much needed, down to the slats redo I had done in 2008). We'd finished some of the work, painting over the horrible paneling, removing most of the American Eagle fixtures, and I'd bought laminate to cover the clown orange countertops but not put it on. Then I went out of town for a week and my friends secretly finished up the project, including making a cat bed on the newly painted radiator cover, and arranged for it to be done when I got back from the airport. It's one of the nicest things anyone's ever done for me!

Because books.

That is really adorable, lisah!

Aw!

I basically went on strike today. Shoveled, called into a meeting and called it a day. Briefly contemplated sanding, but opted to be furniture instead.

OVER WINTER.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

We are done shipping for the day and I have paid a few bills, so I should be done for the day too, right?

I mean c'mon. I know there is more paper to deal with on my desk BUT I DON'T WANNA AND MY HEAD HURTS!!

Aww! And wow, lisah has some amazing friends, that's so sweet!!

I am so irked at my boss. So I wrote up a report for a recent visit of a site that has been a HUGE PITA. And the person reviewing it was like "Hey, in addition to the huge PITA issues, also this other issue that has been lingering forever, have you escalated that to the boss?" and i was all "possibly not, I'll do that now". So I email bosses, and say "hey, there's this issue, do you want to do anything about it if so what". And they LITERALLY sent me about 15 emails...none of which answered that question. All of which were "well, have you told us this before? it's not listed in (report)! what about fixing (other related issue but not what I was asking about)???" I had to be like "It is listed, I'm telling you now, and that other issue was already dealt with, let me RESTATE WHAT I WROTE THE FIRST TIME" Ugh. I feel like they don't even bother to read emails you send, just glance and reply, and then when there's two of them doing that they just start a chain reaction of glance-and-reply misinformation.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, that's so great!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Boss lady fucked off early for a pointless meeting in another brilliant ploy to not do any actual work. ED wants to stage an "intervention" where myself and two colleagues confront her with all the ways she disappoints, frustrates, and irritates us. Um, no? ED is such a chickenshit. She's had two probations, it's time for him to lay down the law and set out edicts and ultimatums.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

airway fire

frostbite in the throat

Aieee! Warn me if we decide to start telling eye horror stories.

So the production manager told me he's posting my boss's job on Monday and wanted to know if I'm interested. I guess I'd better update the resume. No mention of any kind of compensation for only being paid for a fraction of the work I've been doing for the past 4 months.

ED is such a chickenshit

Sounds like ED needs to start reading "Ask a Manager". He needs to manage Boss Lady, and that doesn't include bringing her subordinates into the line of fire.

aurelia, does the boss's job listing have a salary listed? Or are you just burned out and ready to go?

Consuela, thank you.

He's all about the side approach, never saying what he really means as he tries to gently shepherd his staff, and he needs to trail-blaze straight through the bs and be frank about his intentions so there's no mistaking his expectations. The former is fine with employees who will appreciate the gentle nudge for what it is (and avoid the embarrassment of explicit statement of failings).

We have a new part time staff member who has ingratiated herself to the staff with her useful proactiveness and good cheer. So it's not like we're being a mean girls club excluding the newbies. Only the fuckwats.
