I have no opinion on the use of granite or stainless steel in a kitchen per se, but man do I have opinions on the people on the H&G network who INSIST that any house or apartment they look at have them.
And there's Miley Cyrus on the Teen Choice Awards sticking her tongue out and miming giving a blowjob to a mini surfboard. Stay classy, Miley.
The laundry that I've done has yielded enough pants to clothe me through the week and my soup is pretty tasty. Good day!
I don't have strong feelings about stainless steel appliances, myself, I just feel like they've been The Thing for long enough that they probably won't be for much longer.
I don't like granite. I like butcher block, which no one else likes anymore. I do like stainless, though.
I had a feeling that butcher block was going to come back any minute, but that's probably based on one episode of an HGTV show.
I've been joining Facebook groups that relate to growing up in the Pennsylvania county I was born in. Lord, the memories that are being brought up. Is this a sign of a midlife crisis, being pulled back to your youth?

I feel very much this way.
I like butcher's block. The cabin I stayed in this past June had it, and it was very nice (and recently built, I think, so maybe on trend?). I don't remember what the appliances were like for sure - oh, wait, there are pictures online [link] looks like stainless.
What I wish I could get are kitchen counters that gently slope into the sink so the drips from drying dishes don't just puddle there. Sinks all seem to be slightly raised above the counters now and it drives me nuts whenever I wipe down a counter and hit that lip of sink. I'd blame it on whoever renovated my kitchen, but I've run into it too many places.
The thing I don't like about my granite countertops is they are black with sparkly flecks, and that makes it very hard to see if it's clean.
I don't dislike non-stainless appliances (and agree that HGTV people who are all "NO CANNOT HAVE THIS HOUSE WITH NO STAINLESS!" are ridic), but don't think there's a different thing I like better? I find the ones where everything including the fridge is disguised as a wood cabinet weird, and almond or white or black ones seem old, but colors seem like they'd go out of style quickly, so...yeah. Bronze! Bronze should be the new stainless!
