I sent a message to a former coworker of mine who lives in Austin and who was at SXSW last night. I know the odds are that she's fine, but I'd really like to hear back from her.

I got an annoying letter from my doctor's office, followed by an annoying conversation, and I'm wondering what you all think:

I had the whole cholesterol/blood glucose/etc. lab tests done in December, and my total cholesterol was borderline high, as was my LDL (though not actually into what the Am. Heart Assoc. considers "high"; it's just approaching "high").

I got a letter the other day saying that I need to have "yearly bloodwork" done. I assumed it was a form letter and they hadn't checked my records to see that I just had it done, so I called them this morning and said I just had it done in December, and the letter said it's a yearly test. They said no, the doctor wants me to have bloodwork done again because my cholesterol levels are high and it's been 3 months so he wants to see if there's been any change.

I'm just wondering how much change they would see after only 3 months. That seems too soon. Does 3 months seem too soon to you guys? I would think MAYBE 6 months if my cholesterol was 400 or something, but 3 months when it's 210 seems like a massive overreaction.

t edit And I know it's my life and my health and I can ignore the request, but I'm still just wondering if that sounds weird to anyone, or if that's a standard thing now, to re-test frequently.

Me, too. And they definitely didn't.

They were recently acquired by a huge healthcare organization, and I'm wondering if that organization just has more stringent test result-based standards.

I'm just not too fussed by my cholesterol being a little high (despite my family history of OMG heart disease). At least, not fussed to the point of testing it every 3 months. Plus I just don't think that cholesterol levels could change that much in 3 months.

Steph, I am on Statins and HBP meds (both are in high-normal range w. drugs) and I am supposed to get bloodwork done every six months.
