Good boy Charlie! Darby is your sister in scary bath time this week. Now superseded by the clear danger of WAVES at the beach.
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Woo, go lisah, preserving food for later!
Got my indoor herb garden planted! Bought the plants, um, two weeks ago. The dill did not survive the waiting-around-to-be-planted phase, I don't think, but it was a spindly little specimen to start with. Two parsley plants, basil, chives, and maybe dill in the big coffee cup planter, tarragon in the small coffee cup planter, and sorrel in the small pinkish planter with no drainage. We'll see how they do. They're on the outside coffee table right now because, I don't know why, that's just my habit with newly planted pots, but they'll live on the kitchen table so as to be handy for snipping off a bit to go into meals.
(ETA: go all of us for getting done whatever we can and not beating ourselves up about what we can't. We're doing pretty well, it sounds like to me! I have to have this little talk with myself ALL THE TIME ABOUT EVERYTHING, so, y'know, I feel ya, people)
Outside I've just got garlic chives and thyme. I keep thinking I have oregano, but I don't, it succumbed to the heat or something a while back. And the rosemary in its own pot, of course.
I managed to get up early today (partly because I did nothing last night), because I was supposed to meet my trainer at 9AM. Then as I was walking to the gym he called to cancel. I went home to get my headphones, dithered for a bit, and eventually went back and was on the elliptical for a while. But then I got coffee and a croissant (mmm, so bad for me) and have accomplished nothing since. ...I should go get an oil change and return some clothes. Maybe I'll go to the movies. I had two different friends that were like "yeah, let's hang out this weekend!" and then yesterday were like "yeah, not today, how about sunday??" and then...nothing. BOO.
wow ita. I hope she is there now.
Shrift hair: yay!
Fluffy Charlie: yay!
Flaky nurse: boo!
I am accomplishing nothing, because I'm at my mother's. Bored now.
I will just echo what Ginger said, except I am doing nothing producive at my home.
How are you doing, Ginger? Other than bored.
Pretty good. This trip has been tiring, but it's hard to separate physical symptoms from raging annoyance.
Yesterday, we were theoretically sorting out bridge cloths from the mountains of inherited tablecloths and napkins to send to a relative who said she'd like them. One set was prettier than the others, and Mom said, "That's so pretty. Let's save it." You're 88, Mom. Save it for what?
As I was driving over to Hil's house this morning in preparation for the release of the GISHWHES list (expect Beep Me post soon), I was listening to Nightvale episode 22. And the weather came on, and I thought, "This is a nice enough song." And then t spoilers for the weather in Ep 22 the chorus started with a lyric something very like, "There's a hole in the world. You'd have thought we'd know." And I said, "Wait. Wait! I know that line. Is this...is this a fanwork?" and then I went back to the beginning of the song, and it fit, and I said, "Holy shit, I think it is!" and then, in the credits, the nice lady said the song was called "Winnifred" and I wanted to know why no one told me about this.
Oh Ginger.
