Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Boss lady's flight is delayed by three days. We're hoping that it's actually job interviews holding her up. And by we I mean the entire staff. Even the ED agreed that her just leaving was the best resolution he could think of.
I'm gonna go with the local raptor trust for a memorial donation. How is that usually handled? I can put out a request to staff and board members for contributions, and then put in the donation?
God, I just love this woman to bits. She's my Native American princess. She's deeply spiritual and believes in omens. Flowers just don't seem to cut it (dead plants that don't know they're dead, I didn't realize until now how sick that was).
ION, the bone broth I made turned into a gelatin in the fridge.
That's how you know it's good broth!
Eat it with a spoon, Jilli! That's the dream!
Another good run! Pace a little faster, distance a little further. I have found a good route that is easy to extend, even.
ETA: the sauce from the pot roast also gelled up nicely. I'm going to heat it up, though having a cold carnivorous jello salad is appealing (gelled sauce studded with bits of goat and carrot, basically)
Pete ended up heating the broth gel so he could whisk an egg into it for me. It was very tasty!
BTW, Jilli, if you need soft foods for a while, I recommend making custard out of broth. It's easy, tastes good cold, and packs a little more protein than straight broth.
I think making custard out of the broth is beyond Pete's cooking skills, and I know I'm not up to doing it right now. But I'll keep that in mind, because it sounds yummy.
Boy, I am sure glad I left my house at 8pm to get here for an 8:45 rehearsal that the director decided to start late. The concert will be great, but this guy is an asshole.
the Mary Stewarts, and I'm not revisiting them so my memories of them stay rosey. I don't want to know if they're awful by today's standards.
They're not. At least, I don't think so. I suppose there's some issues with man/woman relationships and British superiority, but I've been pleased with the ones I've re-read. I was pleased to discover that Airs Above The Ground is just as good as I remembered.
Speaking of the Suck Fairy, I'm saddened by how poorly a lot of Andre Norton has aged. They're just... thin, by comparison with modern YA. No characterization to speak of, really. The plots are good, and the world-building, but the characters are 2D if you're lucky.
I had maple-roasted brussel sprouts and a piece of grilled salmon for dinner. The sprouts were way better than the salmon, I must admit.
