F Ender's Game (fave in college)

M All the Harry Potter books

C Swiss Family Robinson, which I reread every summer when I was a kid, but when I tried rereading it as an adult, I couldn't get past the racism and intolerance and how NOT kind Daddy Robinson was to his youngest son, and to the dogs.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Amy, I would. A week is fair.

Today's award for Biggest Buzzkill goes to the YMCA, which had a "Fit Tuesday" parade on Fountain Square today "to promote health and wellness for the whole family."

I'm all in favor of health and wellness and whatnot, but shut up and give me that paczki.

(I would post this on FB, but there's that one guy that likes to squawk about pre-diabetes and that other guy who thinks that eating a scone after working out literally undoes any benefit one might have derived by working out. A joyless lot, they are.)

Serious killjoys, and missing the entire point.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Never had a paczki. I have a little bit of Polish ancestry, but Fat Tuesday ain't part of my heritage.

BTW, flea and Steph, my reaction to the Twitter pic flea posted on Facebook that I decided against posting there:

Damn, I sure wouldn't want to be the company that manages security at that...oh.

Because books.

It sucks when childhood favorites don't stand the test of time. Or adulthood, I guess.

Thanks, Tep. I think I will.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Polgara, Jo Walton has an extended metaphor how the Suck Fairy visits a lot of your childhood favorites and sprinkles them with suck-dust, also racist- and sexist- dust.

Yep, I have the same problem with Agatha Christie. Makes me weep.

ETA: And don't even get me started on Xanth!
