Simon: Captain... why did you come back for us? Mal: You're on my crew. Simon: Yeah, but you don't even like me. Why'd you come back? Mal: You're on my crew. Why we still talking about this?

Because books.

That sounds like an excellent field of study, Zen!

In a similar vein, my ex's dad retired from the Philly Fire Department and then went back to Temple and got both his BA and PhD in poli sci and now he is teaching there.

Wow!

Amych, that is super awesome!

My hotel hallways are red-lit. I feel....sketchy.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Public History is a totally awesome field. I don't think they had it as a separate specialty when I did undergrad at Brown, but it's always been an outstanding History department in general. Congrats to the ZenKitten!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Several reasons not to light your hotel hallways in red quickly come to mind, but I can't think of an angle from which that seems like a good idea.

I just looked up my ex's ex-stepmother whom I liked a lot but didn't keep in touch with. What's interesting is she was a Wharton grad and very much high powered in that world. She's been doing the startup thing.

Anyhow, erinaceous follows her twitter which made me laugh. Small world for powerful women.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Thanks, amych, that's good to know!

Random question: Is it weird to be in your mid-30s and to bring up the fact that you went to Vassar in conversation at least once a week? Especially if you are a student teacher?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Go team academic achievement!

I can't think of an angle from which that seems like a good idea.

I can but they're all nefarious reasons.
