Oh Flea, hugs.
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Scrolling back to catch up...
Holy shit--I cannot IMAGINE calling out two people who used a lot of healthcare dollars at your company and blaming them for increasing costs or the company's choice to change a 401K plan.
This was a rare exception to the 'don't read the comments' rule. The comments were spot on for the ones I read. Yeah blame Obama for all your self made problems.
Oh, flea, that's awful. My sympathies for you & dillo.
Me, I feel kind of awful, although some of it is self-imposed, because I went out for dinner with a friend and we split a bottle of wine. I also had the pizza with sausage on it, so I broke my good-cholesterol diet. But whatever, it was a rough day.
Dad's surgery is on Monday morning and I've been trying to get everything lined up, but there's so much shit, and some people (basically the folks at the hospital) will not provide any information up front! I tried and tried to talk to someone about his dietary needs after the surgery, and they basically just blew me off, even when I explained that I needed orders in advance so the facility could be ready. No go.
Capped it off with a mandatory phone call from a pre-op nurse that came two hours after they said she would call, and resulted in Dad nearly missing dinner because she wouldn't talk to me without his presence. I'm so pissed off at this hospital: even the oral surgeon agrees they should not have sent him out of the ER without bringing him in to consult.
Everyone has a process, and none of it is designed to help the patient, so far as I can tell. Argh.
So I drank too much wine last night. And now I have to go edit chapters for my old boss, who very kindly tossed me some work. It's raining here and my father's dog has not pooped in 24 hours, which makes me nervous.
BLargh.
I hate how people have to batter themselves again the system to try and get the care people need.
Rain is good, though, right?
Dillo has not barfed since 8am and has had 3 sips of water. The fact that he is not asking for water means he is still not feeling well, though.
Consuela, what a stressful clusterfuck. I think your health can withstand a little pizza, assuming you didn't eat an entire extra-large super stuffed crust with extra lard all by yourself. Sometimes your mental health needs it.
flea, I hope the barfing is over. Gah.
Also, people, I am going to CHANGE YOUR LIFE (unless you already do this): coconut oil in your oatmeal. SO GOOD. Do it.
WHAT DO YOU KNOW THAT I DON'T, iPHONE?? WHY DO YOU WANT ME TO GO THERE??
I think you should be impressed that your phone knows when you need a haircut!
I need a haircut. I should probably try to do that later this week.
Now that I'm at home where my passport is, I went to the bank for a temporary debit card. This means I can book the trip to Ecuador on Monday! I also have a temporary transit pass to last me until my wallet arrives.
I could be productive, but after this week, I'm sitting on my ass for the rest of the day.
Also, these shoes (in green) were waiting for me when I got home last night: [link]
Cute shoes!
Hah--a haircut at a place I've never been to. Maybe it's secret advertising! Or maybe Siri just doesn't like my selfies lately. :)
I have accomplished a load of laundry and a load of dishes. Plus B picked up the furniture thwart has been in my garage. In about an hour I head out on my first solo trip in a while to get my hairs cut. I'm fighting a snooze between now and then.
