Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

That is good news, Dana. And it's just a starting point for negotiations, right?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Sorry about the price, Dana. I hope you can come to an agreement that's okay and ends with you having more money and less house.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Theoretically, but we're worried that if we counter, they could just walk away, and it's taken this long to get one offer.

Yeah, that's a tough call.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My weekend plans are typing up a midterm, grading a quiz, prepping for a presentation, prepping my classes for this week, doing laundry, and cleaning my apartment. Also, lots of Robitussin, because I can't stop coughing.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Mum called to tell me that a teenager was found stabbed 15 times just a quarter mile down the road from her house in the state park. Holy bejesus. Girl survived, but I don't know anything else. They got the sickos, 18 and 22 y/o. We haven't had that sort of crime since the eighties (bodies in barrels in the woods), and before it was Josie Langmaid from the 1800's. I felt sick that I could recognize the intersection from the photos in the news (which I know is a fucked up priority and sensibility).

In better horrible rural news, the barn a half mile the other direction burned down, but all the animals were outside since it was a nice day out.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So I had a plan to game the coupons at CVS by just looking at some stuff I wanted to buy and seeing if I could get a coupon, but instead they already had a deal on, so I had to buy it tonight! Ah well. Next time.

Wow, awful. Yay for the barn animals?

Separate post:

I had to go look up Josie Langmaid. [link] I feel like that site will be good for killing some time.

From the linked story:

The town of Pembroke erected a monument to Josie Langmaid near the murder site. It includes directions to the spots where the body and head were found.

Really??

My route to school passed by that landmark. Yes they give you directions to her body parts. I don't know why. To emphasize or wallow in the horror of it.
