So that's my dream. That and some stuff about cigars and a tunnel.

Our wings are not tired

They're already calling it drought.

The CA Governor officially declared a drought before the weekend. The past three years have been the lowest rainfall the state has experienced since they started keeping records.

Punishingly Intricate

I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but do think she should have had 20 minutes of give in her first-day planning.

Uh, yeah, especially if you're taking mass transit.

The new person on our team was too late to her first meeting at our client's last week to get signed in on time. And she didn't have any of our numbers to text to let us know she was there so she sat in the lobby for 90 minutes. Now, we should have told her that you need to get there at least 20 minutes early to get signed in but I still was a little judgey about it. But she'd been to this client's (big fed agency) before in her old job so she should have known the sign-in rigamarole. Anyway, it's not like her input was needed at the meeting but it didn't make the best first impression.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I would probably be in (secret) tears if I was that late for my first day of work. I would certainly be super-stressed if I wasn't 10 minutes early.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

OMG, me too.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

True story about my first day at my old job (please note that I had, in fact, had 2 interviews at that office, so I had been there before): I was really early, so I went to the McDonald's across the street for coffee, and then headed up to the office, where I pulled on the door handle...and it didn't open. Big glass door, which showed no signs of life (at that exact moment) inside. So I just kind of stood around in the hallway, waiting for someone to show up with a key and open the door.

A couple of minutes later, one of my new co-workers walked up, gave me the stinkeye for skulking about in the hallway (he had no idea I was the new employee), walked past me, and...PUSHED the door open.

I seriously didn't even try pushing the door open when pulling didn't work. I had been there before, TWICE, and presumably the door worked on both occasions. My only feeble defense is that it was my first day and I was nervous.

My only other defense is: Midvale School for the Gifted.

It's like everyone sat down and thought "Who could be worse than Jindal?"

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Jesus, seriously? I keep wondering how Vitter is still in politics at all!
