I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Whew, completed week one of training, did not get eaten by zombies.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The potato thing with the light bulb didn't work -- the metal part is too smooth for the potato to get any grip on it. When I turn the potato, the potato turns but the metal part stays where it is. I'll try pliers next, I guess. But I've got the other bulbs replaced, so now my apartment is all nice and bright.

Well, my uncle died. Some kind of memorial service on Monday and then the funeral on Tuesday. Whatever else you want to say about Uncle Svetik, I think it's safe to say he lived on his terms, and that's pretty good.

Eta: too bad about the potato, Hil. I've never tried that trick but it sure sounds like it should work!

I'm sorry about your uncle, -t.

Pliers didn't work on the bulb, either. They bent the metal but it wouldn't turn. Also rained down a bunch of black dust on my face, which was somewhat alarming and made me quite glad that I was wearing my glasses and not contacts.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Sorry about your Uncle Svetik, -t.

Thanks, guys.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm sorry, -t.

So I finally went to Target, but the bus home isn't for 20 minutes, and it's crazy thunder and lightning and pouring out. So I guess I'll sit on this bench for a while!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I'm sorry, -t.

Hil, another trick is jamming the end of a dowel or broom handle into the bulb base. It's the same principle as the potato, but allows for more force/leverage. If you've started in with pliers you should be very careful about turning the fixture on. The potential is there for you to have twisted enough metal to make your hot and neutral connect (not good!).

Burrell are you still in town? I am downtown today and hope to be free sometime around 5.

Yay, the bus came! I'm glad I didn't call my mom to pick me up, which I actually considered doing.
