Giles: I'm sure we're all perfectly safe. Dawn: We're safe. Right. And Spike built a robot Buffy to play checkers with. Tara: It sounded convincing when I thought it.

I went over to Yorkie cam just in time for one of the puppies to galumph over to the camera and jump up on whatever is housing the camera, so we go a full shot of puppy underpinnings. I think it was a girl puppy, but that could have a boy puppy with still-tiny boy bits.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

1. You will notice they don't reference any actual studies.

2. The reactor is shut down and is being defueled. Since there is no nuclear reaction going on, there are no new nuclear isotopes being made. Therefore the mention of radioactive strontium and iodine at the beginning is ludicrous, because those are all short-lived isotopes that decayed within months of the earthquake.

3. A good way to spot silly science is phrases like "science has not determined" or "the FDA has refused to test for radiation." What that means is that scientists don't like to waste their time. The important thing to remember about radiation is that you can't hide it. Geiger counters and other radiation detectors are easily available. No one has to wait for the "FDA," which wouldn't be doing anything about sea lions anyway, unless they've suddenly become a menu item.

4. It is possible that there will be an increase in thyroid problems in children who lived near Fukushima, although precautions were taken. Iodine-131 has an 8-day half-life, so even if a dangerous amount got into the ocean, there would be very little left by the time it got to the U.S.

5. Helen Caldicott has said in print that it's okay for scientists to lie for the "greater good."
