If I tell you all the temperature here it will sound like I'm taunting, so I won't. But we do have wildfires in Humboldt County, which is ridiculous in January.
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Sorry for the cat news, Fred.
I couldn't get my car out and my train was late but at least I made it to work. It's -4 now but it's gonna get up to 5 today! It's 59 in the office but I have warm clothes and a space-heater.
Friday they're predicting rain, and it'll be above freezing for a few days.
My mud room was 40 degrees - there was frost around the window and the door. I need to get laundry going and rerun the dishwasher to keep the water moving so the pipes don't freeze. I might make the girl take a nice, warm shower.
Thanks for the thoughts.
DC was down to 5 this morning. It's up to 12 with a wind chill of -3. In other words, standard DC -- on the edge of things. Bad enough to be bad, but hard to complain because so many people have it so much worse.
That's definitely bad enough to complain.
Fred, I'm so sorry.
It's 8 here right now.
It is officially Too Damn Cold for Georgia
This is what I was talking about with my coworker this morning -- it's too cold, too far south, and people are not prepared. I mean, it's plenty cold here, but we can deal with it. Our houses are insulated, we own warm coats, there are enough shelters and etc. (Not that there aren't still people outside, but theoretically they could be inside someplace.)
I think this is the only corner of the country where it is shaping up to be a beautiful day. I'm on the UCLA campus right now and there are clear blue skies over the courtyard where I'm having coffee. It was crisp this morning, but compared to everywhere else there is nothing cold going on here.

Oh, it's utterly gorgeous here! Just not in any way that makes me want to emerge from the blankets on the inside of the house.
It has passed us now, we are on the warming trend and it should stay above freezing even through the night for the rest of the week.
