Relatedly, I can't believe I'm heading out of sunny LA for Chicago in 3 days.
Well, by the time you get here, we should be back at normal winter temperatures for the region... which is only a bonus because it's currently -12F with wind chill putting it at -37F.
I've decided that I'm going to work for the duration of a Sports Night episode and then pause to clean something. And repeat until it's quitting time.
Thanks for the interview~ma. The phone interview this afternoon is the first one I've done in years, so I'm a bit nervous. Just made a page of notes about how various things that I've done or know how to do or want to do fit into the list of stuff mentioned in the job description.
Ooh, that was smart, Hil. I always tank my first interview of a cycle, because I forget about preparing.... Good luck!
Maybe not mallomar-level hilarious
This, THIS is how I achieved infamy (or notoriety)?
...that's actually not a bad way to do it.
I have to hire one of two finalists, and I literally cannot decide! Just when I think I've got it, one does something to sway me toward her. Argh! I think I'm just going to go with my initial gut feeling, since there is nothing else really distinguishing between them.
Ooh, like at Kristin/Drew's wedding when Nanita said she always thought of me as a kind and gentle person and everyone who'd known me from WX/TT just burst out laughing. GOOD TIMES. (No seriously, it was hilarious. Maybe not mallomar-level hilarious, but definitely on my list of Top In Person Buffista Moments.)
Oh, that was funny, yes. Dang, good times.
I am floundering because I don't have enoug work at the moment but don't want to ask for more because they wouldn't give it to me until a time when I would then be TOO busy. Ugh.
I have still not cleaned the bathroom. Go on, act surprised.
Hire me instead?
Sadly, I walked into these two finalists and was told to pick one. I am hiring another position, but that one needs fundraising experience.
OK, that interview went pretty well, I think. At the end, they said that they'll get back to me by the end of January, and that if I'm offered another job before then, that I should let them know, which seems like a good sign. It's still a big university in a rural area, but much closer to actual cities than where I am now.
