Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I semi-regularly have hot dogs and sauerkraut on NYD as a nod to pork and cabbage, and may again this year! Oh, but I think family dinner tomorrow will be tourtiere and brussels sprouts, which also covers those bases. Sweet!

For New Year's Eve, I will have pub cheese and possibly pear wine. And maybe American Horror Story!

Also, I need food. I have very little in the house. And I'm really goddamned hungry right now.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

They let us go home two hours early, so here I am. We're going to First Night Alexandria, as we often do on NYE.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I'm at work, but we are having neighbors over tonight for ham.

My coworker and I left at 3. An hour early for him, an 1.75 hours early for me. I bought some stuff for supper, and I think I may see how Death at (in?) Pemberly is.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I would walk a 5K right now quite cheerfully if it weren't so goddamn cold outside.

Well, I was going to make dal, but I only have red onion. Target had no white onions and one very suspicious looking yellow onion that I chose not to buy. The closest grocery was a Dominick's, and they shut down on the 28th, so I've decided to have broccoli mac & cheese instead.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

This is freaky. He got so much right!

Huh. Not bad, Brunner.

My upstairs neighbor always does hoppin' John and greens for our New Year's brunch, and my neighbor across the way usually brings sausage balls, so I'm covered.

Is anyone making plans/resolutions for 2014? I'm hoping to spend at least a month trying Tai Chi and I'm also planning on listening to Wagner's Ring cycle.

ETA, Death Comes to Pemberly, Sue? I saw the first two episodes last weekend and quite liked it.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm celebrating by having my water heater fixed. Feh. Fingers crossed I also get to crlebrate with a hot shower at some point.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Feh indeed, brenda. That hot shower will be excellent, though, I have no doubt.

Home sweet home. Now I really don't know what to do with myself. Lunch, perhaps?

Yes! I'm looking forward to it.

My workplace had a spate of hot water heater failures this fall. Three of us had to get them replaced within 6 weeks and I was the only one that didn't have a flood.
