I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I had pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast. They were lovely, and that's enough maple sugar for the next few months.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Whew, I left my badge at work, apparently; it was on my desk when I got in (thanks to one of my co-workers I only ever see in the parking lot, hooray for nodding acquaintances!)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I had a McGriddle for breakfast. Those have maple syrup in them. Or maybe "maple" flavor.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I have work to do and zero motivation.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I started the process of rolling over my old-job retirement plan and paid a couple of bills, which seems like more than enough to have accomplished today. I kind of want to go to Target as well, but we'll see.

I talked to him about it a few days ago, and he says he's dropped his cholesterol by 40 points since Sept. 1. He's following a 10% total fat diet.

Wow. I mean, assuming he had a cholesterol problem, that does seem really effective! But also miserable.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I'm actually not too enamored of maple flavor.

How can this be? Maple is my one true flavor. I mean, after cheese and salt. Then maple.

I think I may make maple caramels today.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Mmm, maple.

Today I need to make bread. And maybe I'll do a double-batch and do sticky rolls as well. Sticky rolls are a good way to start the year, yeah?

Here's a funny story about a little company getting stomped on by Starbucks and making it a marketing opportunity: [link]

Librarian Warlord

We are in Dallas for the day, and spending NYE with the DH's 92 year old first cousin twice removed. We fly home tomorrow, and I am so looking forward to a few days there before going back to work on Monday.

Now I want something made with maple, cheese and salt. That sounds delicious.

Sticky rolls are definitely a good way to start the year! I don't think I have any black-eyed peas or cabbage in the house. I'll need to double check the cans when I get home.

Because books.

This is freaky. He got so much right!

We never make black-eyed peas and ham. Maybe this is part of our problem.
