I'm loving hearing everyone's holidays. Pix & ND, I hope Your next stop is much less drama.
We made French toast, eggsamdbacon, and a fruit salad with pomegranates for brunch. Pomegranates: still messy. HPF had a great Xmas - lots of books and toys, and a b&w reader from my sister. Parents arrived an hour + later than planned, expecting us to keep HPF away from any holiday things until they could arrive and watch, and spent the day alternating between being offended by various things, ignoring what any female in the house said and then yelling 'what was that?'" (Dad), and being very kind and thoughtful when not offrended (Mom).Three meals in a row with them seems to be a bit more than wise right now. So when they left, we put on Lord of the Rings until it was time to hit the sack. Today we go to DHs family, where we have to figure out why my FiL flipped out at us (completely out of character) over Thanksgiving. On the plus side, ugly stress crying? Seems to have fixed the insomnia.
I am sorry to be complainy.
Have asked DH if we can at least tell people that we are in Costa Rica or New Zealand next holidays, even if we stay here. He is considering it.
I’ve been too frazzled to go food shopping this week, so I have absolutely no food in the house. And I can’t drink my tea on an empty stomach; it makes me nauseous. So, you know that means: cookies for breakfast.
Skipping what seems like a whole holiday season, because, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is a *triple* Buffista event: it's the birthday of Jesse H, Rayne and Theodosia.
Happy birthday, Jesse!
Happy birthday, Rayne!
Happy birthday, Theo!
With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!
Also, with deepest apologies, a way-way-belated birthday wishes to Typo Boy, whose birthday I've missed posting about (in the electricity mess that some winter caused all over the place).
And, of course, a good Thursday to all!
Happy Birthday Theo! Happy Birthday Jesse! Happy Birthday Rayne!
Many happy returns, birthday havers!
Hooray cookies for breakfast!
Going back to work after two days off. Do not want.
Happy Birthdays, Jesse, Rayne, and Theo!
And drinking with the Mercer fam
I can personally speak to the fact that this is amazing! Dad of Brenda makes the most awesomest wassail I have ever had.
Low key holiday in these parts. The best thing about not traveling is the not traveling. And I made lobster mac & cheese for dinner last night.
We had a good Christmas, if tiring. It's getting increasingly obvious that Tim's dad can't live alone in his house for much longer. That transition is going to be really hard for everyone.
And I'm kicking myself for agreeing to work today. I figured since I'm so new, I should be available for whatever work they might have, so I got a pile of articles dumped on me at the end of the day Monday. They were closed Christmas Eve and yesterday, but I need to get them back by COB today. So I'm clutching my coffee and getting ready to tear into them. (And being vaguely resentful that Tim has today and tomorrow off.)
