Lorne: Back in Pylea they used to call me "sweet potato." Connor: Really. Lorne: Yeah, well, the exact translation was "fragrant tuber" but…

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My kids have bunk beds now!

My parents dropped off the loft from my old bunk bed (from The Door Store or something, ridiculously sturdy heavy wood) on their way up to Boston, so DH and I spent about an hour putting it together. Now we just need to decide if we dismantle the crib today too, or let Aeryn have a few days transition. (I'm thinking a few transition days would be good, both for her and to give us a break from dust and construction.)

Unfortunately the sheets I ordered from Amazon are due to arrive today so we can't go out for a celebratory lunch. But we CAN order celebratory takeout! So I'm thinking tacos.

Tomorrow we are having a proper lazy Jewish Christmas with our neighbors - takeout Chinese and DVDs and kids in jammies all day.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

We're doing movies tonight, Chinese food tomorrow. Tomorrow we're also going into the city to see the Maccabeats perform, so that should be fun.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I have pants.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I am at work, but only for a half-day. Then to friend's for dinner. Tomorrow, movies all day OF COURSE.

information libertarian

My mother missed her connection in Philly. It was her fault, mostly, but she is PISSY about it. I hope she gets over it by the time she gets here.

I have successfully baked a genoise and glued together the Bag End gingerbread house (= THE MOST STRESSFUL PART OF XMAS).

I have pants. I even put them on! Over my fleece-lined leggings, because it is hella cold.

I also forgot a charging cord (in part because I thought the thing was more charged than it apparently was). Am annoyed at self, since it is not an easily replaceable one like my phone or something would be.

And I am out of internet.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I want Christmas Ham! And drinking with the Mercer fam!

hip deep in pie

I got an email this morning letting me know that I didn't get the job in The Hague. Merry Fucking Christmas.

Now I have to go and be social with my family. Ugh.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm sorry Sue. The timing on that is certainly an odd decision on someone's part.

OK, I've had coffee, now I'm going to be productive. Step One - feed the birds, because I can hear them out there and they sound hungry. And Walter really wants to go hang out in the front yard, so why not accommodate that while I can?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My sister and niece are decorating the tree while I sit here with a dachshund on my butt. This is acceptable to all.
