Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh wait sarameg, is that going to be that crazy week you were describing? Hang on tight!

Good news is it'll keep my dad busy. Bad news is we'll all want to kill him at some point.

Hilariously enough, my SIL has declared my dad and I can't work together and my my mom agreed. And described exactly what happens.

We'll live, I think.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

In good news, I actually got a cost-of-living raise. Last year I got bupkis.

not your mom's socks.

We have DH's high school bestie and his family here for two nights before they go on to the next stop. They live in Europe now and we haven't seen them in 5 years. They got in at 6 from CDG and we rolled their exhausted 6-year-old into bed, then had dinner. Then lots of wonderful conversation and I put HPF to bed. More conversation, then DH and his bestie stayed up drinking beers while I cleaned up and went to bed, and so did bestie's wife. Beer drinking went on until late. You see where this is going? Poor 6-yo is now wide awake at 3am and bored and hungry and both high school chums are blissfully sleeping. I'm gonna go make scrambled eggs.

Yup we are coloring now! I have no idea what the six year old is saying to me but he seems sincere! People will be awake soon, right?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

You're a good friend, Sox. Keeping six year olds fed, warm, and busy seems like a good approach to me.

information libertarian

That is one friendly 6 year old, to be content coloring in the black of night with a stranger with whom he/she shares no common language. My 7 year old would have fled to his own parents' bed instantly, be they deep asleep or no.

Oh he tried the parents bed. The gave him a book and some toys and he dropped both a lot (they are on the third floor, right above us) and talked at top volume and didn't want toast. No. So I went up and offered to make eggs. I was a little surprised when his mom sent him down alone with me but it worked out.

DH is up and making coffee and I got another two hours of zzzzs. This will be an amusing day.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Sox, I'm sure you're earning a halo right now -- altho' at least most 6yos are charming and fun when uncrankinated.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I never thought that jetlag was contagious, but clearly I was wrong!

So it turns out I maybe needed a day to relax and actually do something fun.

Yes! Good one.

Aw jeez, aurelia. I'm glad it wasn't worse, but sounds like terrible timing.

I have to Clean All The Things today, as well as put all the things away aka into the spare bedroom, in preparation for having my whole family over on Tuesday.
