I'm OK, but just got in a minor car accident. Skidded on some ice going downhill on a road that hadn't been plowed yet, and hit the car in front of me, which was stopped at a red light at the bottom of the hill. Everyone's OK, minor damage to the bumpers of the cars. Just called my insurance company (couldn't call from the scene, because my cell battery was dead, but the other driver called her insurance company and asked them what information we needed to exchange, and we exchanged all that), and my insurance company explained to me what my options are. Since my car is still OK to drive, and I'm going to be visiting my parents for a few weeks, I think I'll have it repaired at a shop near them, so that I can either use one of their cars or have one of them drive me if I want to go anywhere while my car is being repaired.

(Oh, and don't mention this on my facebook page -- my mom is going to freak out if she hears it first in any way other than me calling her, and my cell battery is dead and I'm at work now, so I can't call her until I get home.)

Glad to hear all that is rattled is your nerves, Hil. Winter skids are one of those things that even the carefullest drivers have happen to them.
