Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
My new roommate has begun moving in! Somehow I am not yet up and packing for my trip today, nor am I cleaning my room. Both of which are rather desperately needing to happen.
I am relieved (insert mild ladybits spoilerfont)
that the cramps I had in the middle of the night were actually my period coming a week early, and not just weird "ow why is my body cramping".
On a side note, as a result of being so sick, I hadn't smoked for several days, and though I bought a pack Friday, now that I can taste things again, I am kinda naused out by more than 2 puffs.
And since the kiddo gets here in three days, I am actually kind of excited to not be all-smoking-all-the-time girl.
I'm not going to say I am quitting (because Murphy's Law is A Thing, especially during the holidays) but I will say I am cutting WAY back.
On step at a time Strix.
Today has been one of those days. I did sleep in but once I was up I decided to finish my wrapping, write out Christmas cards, and make a necklace, so I grab all the stuff and bring it out to the living room. Oh, wait, I only have one roll of tape, so I should go to Office Max. While I'm there, I also need packing tape and a cushioned mailer, oh and stamps. And Bath and Body Works is next door and my body wash is on sale. I get home, unload my stuff and go to the kitchen to get a cup of tea. CJ unloaded the dishwasher, so I should load it while I wait for the kettle. Might as well do the pots and pans even though the water is hot. And it is lunch time, so I should put something together. I get my tea and lunch and set down to get to work. My address list is on Google drive, so I decide to peek around the internet. So here I am, nothing new wrapped, no cards written, jewelry is still in pieces.

True, but you got a whole lot of other shit done LIKE A BOSS.
I did decide against a Christmas letter this year. It would have boiled down to "More of the same from last year plus stuff I don't want to talk about".
And I have opened my box of cards and I don't like them as much as I did when I bought them. But I'm not going to go out and buy different ones. Snarl.
I managed to put together my new Expedit thing I got at Ikea last night, and am v. proud. Of course, I have not done laundry or put away the PILES AND PILES of clothes on my bed, but whatev'. I'm not sleeping in it tonight, so I can wait until I get home, exhausted, on Wednesday night, right? Right?? Um.
Shoveled snow at work for four hours, because of course the snowblower died (we'd deemed it dead last winter, but new boss...) including the roof of the sunporch because there's a leak. Got home, neighbor lady is shoveling the driveway while her 17 yo daughter is wandering around in her tennis shoes bitching that she's late for work. I wish her parents made her actually take responsibility for making sure she got to work on time in any weather conditions, but that's not why I helped shovel (it's because I use that driveway too).
Did laundry, but I'm good for nothing for the rest of the day. Sprained ankle has me out of shape in more places than just my ankle, I'm realizing.
Shove 'em into an empty laundry basket? Works for me.
I have made beef stroganoff, yay. I still have cheesecake to make, that may have to wait until after the game, or halftime, we'll see how things go. I'm now taking my canning rig on its maiden voyage as a steamer - I think I like it so far, although it's definitely bigger than I need. So it goes.
My hand wash only kitchen items are jealous of your industry, Suzi.
...or maybe I don't want to watch this game...
