OK, if I were going to make some kind of Xmas dish out of roasted chestnuts and eggnog, what third flavor would tie it all together? Goose comes to mind, but presents logistical difficulties. Suggestions?
Egg nog ice cream with some sort of roasted chestnut sauce... so maybe caramel?
Is caramel christmassy? I want another Christmas flavor. Not necessarily sweet.
Caramel seems festive. I mean, the dish could skew savory but it's easy to take it to sweet.

Hard sauce, egg nog, nutmeg, peppermint, gingerbread, cardamom (my family makes this: [link] ), cloves, cinnamon, mulled cider, mulled wine, dried fruits in fruit cake and mincemeat...
