Onerous task weekend, day 1 was a success. Went through and cleaned up our old files AND got all my sister's old shredding (20 or so banker boxes) to the shredders. Anyone got some wine?

Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
My voice is approaching Kathleen Turner territory, but the sinuses weren't as mad at diving under. Definitely still pissed, though. And there was unintended napping today. Weirdest possible cold ever.
But I did fall down the stairs after successfully negotiating them with 40lbs of litter, awkward boxes and the vacuum. But apparently just walking empty handed is problematic. Elbow is sore, but otherwise my falling skill are still excellent.
Hoping to swim in the morning in case the weather closes the Y early (likely overreaction if it does) and so I can go to the parade (unless the weather is shit.) I could walk there in 30-40 minutes, but I don't want to have to walk back if it is dark (it will be, sun starts setting at 4!) and even less so if it has turned to rain. And I don't want to be driving even a couple miles and trying to get out of iffy parking if it does go to shit (now that we're down a free parking lot over there.) Decisions, decisions. I'd hate to miss the parade and lisah's hosting!
My brother is trying to find a new loan. VA canned his on account of something with the title of the house (foreclosure in the last couple years, though not a foreclosure now. It's some Alabama thing.) It's his birthday tomorrow. Happy fucking birthday. I'm trying to help, but not of much use.
Anyone got some wine?
Yes. And I'll share.

Seriously, how do we do this? Also feel better. Ice, Epsom salt baths and all that.
I am winning at home humidification. I threw a Good Earth tea bag into the simmering stock pot of water on the stove.
Ow, Sara!
Good job, Burrell.
I'm still not all the way unpacked, but I will be tomorrow. Then still to figure out where everything goes. But at least I'll get rid of the boxes.
Several risks were described in a planning document. The company chose to take the course of action for which the risks were evaluated, and what was feared actually happened. Is there a less jargony way to say "the risks materialized" without being horribly verbose? The jargon in this case is probably the most succinct, but affects me like chalk scraping on a chalkboard. I'm willing to add a few words to avoid that, but I'd hate to replace a three word jargon-filled sentence with a paragraph.

It's a real talent, I tell you. Only thing that hurts (that didn't before, I'm an achy mess) is the elbow and it is barely bruising so far, which is shocking. I have eraser-sized bruises on my hands from glancing blows with the lane dividers and ones on my knees (remarked on tonight by the new guard) that I vaguely remember brushing roughly against shit. But land on my elbow first-contact with force such that I'm breathless enough that I can't immediately utter FUCK and my mind immediately goes to the fact my neighborhood nurse is out of commission if I need free advice? No bruising yet.
I tossed in cinnamon and a rooibos ruby red chai teabag into a pot and have been boiling that on and off for moisture the past couple days. Also, for sticking my nose over it and inhaling.
Pumpkin is SNORING. It's hilarious that my skinny little cat is a snorer, but the fatass, NSM.(She's so slender that I sometimes am concerned that Loki's diet -not that it seems to be working- is affecting her, but she's not shy about butting him out of the way, and doesn't act ravenous, so.)
Hey, I got out of the house! Missed the boat parade, but found my parents and saw their pictures of said parade (and also of grass planting earlier in the day) and had dinner. The boat parade kind of makes me sad, anyway, so not terrible that I missed it.
Way to go, Burrell! That sounds super productive. You are welcome to my wine - I don't think I have anything open but we can fix that, we have the technology (I did have a glass with dinner, so silliness levels may be elevated).
Typo, I think you have it as succinctly as possible. We run into that a lot with my work and here, much more than that is taken as not accepting the responsibility for taking the risk.
Tomorrow is bake all the cookies day. Today has already been shop for all the ingredients day.

"I told you so!"

Plus, I've been reading Doctor Who synopses, and I find myself expecting the materialised risks to start chanting "EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!"
For synonyms: ensued, transpired? I think my preference may be "were realised".
