Because books.

Yay, Suzi! Of course they like you.

Consuela, I like. It's nice and graphic.

Excellent. And good catch, Juliana. I can fix that.

I took the photo myself: it's from Point Conception, a lighthouse down south of Lompoc on the central California coast.

Hivemind advice needed: my dad is waiting for a corneal transplant and progressively getting blind in that eye. He is also completely deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other. BUT, there's a new bio of Ted Williams, his favourite player out. Should I get him the book or an audio book?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Very nice!

Sue, large print book?

It doesn't seem to be available in that format yet. It was just published today. (I looked for some other books and LP and damn, they can be expensive!)

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Also, yay Suzi! Of course they like you.

Sue, could he get an e-reader or tablet, and increase the font size that way? A bit more expensive than the book, admittedly.

My dad is in similar shape--deaf in one ear, not great in the other, had cataract surgery, and then one eye had issues...he's been wearing an eye patch for months and now they've decided to take out the eye entirely, tomorrow. Which is creepy enough, but apparently this is now OUTPATIENT surgery???

Oh wow, meara - that does sound like it shouldn't be outpatient surgery. But the piratey opportunities abound.

I grew a pair and pulled the job description that is two levels above me, highlighted the requirements that I feel I perform, which meant I highlighted at least 2/3rd of the list, and then I gave it to my boss. I know it is reaching, but why not toss that in...

So the corneal transplant

He used to read on my Kindle, but he found the buttons fincky. I don't know how he would do with a tablet. But it's an idea.
