Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

But also, that really sucks, flea! Can people come to you?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

One Christmas here I got a package on Christmas Day. I'm not sure what my Aunt paid for that, but anyway. The delivery person was wearing a Santa hat, and I asked her if she minded. She shrugged and said "No. Triple time." and was on her merry way.

Still trying to correctly tweak the clothing for temperatures. It's a bit more of a deal at work when I can't get comfortable.

There's an eager guy two rows over. When I get really loud about "boy" stuff, like comics or sci fi, he runs over and enters the conversation, and seems to always phrase it weirdly. Like--did he really want to know if I thought the X-Men could beat the Superfriends, or were we really talking about the JLA? The difference could be life or death there.

Monday, when I was extolling the glory of the kettlebell, he pretty much ran over crowing "You know what else is cool?" "What?" "Krav MAGA!"

Nah, he's never done it, but I told 'em to tell 'em I sent 'im, unless they've rotated everyone out or somehow I non grataed. He was just so eager, and then a bit crushed when I hadn't just heard of it, and then eager again when he realised what that meant, and...I just don't have that sort of conversational energy unless I'm in defence mode.

nobody has both Wednesday and Friday off, so nobody can travel far for Thanksgiving

Do people not travel on the day itself? Back when there were direct flights to Jamaica I'd fly in on Christmas morning sometimes. It wasn't heavily travelled, but all of us were supremely smug.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

That's how we ended up traditionally doing T-day on the Friday, leaving Thursday open as a travel day.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I did not realize the East Coast has storm warnings! Be safe y'all.

information libertarian

And miss the Macy's parade? What kind of philistines are you?

I actually don't have strong feelings about being with family for Thanksgiving (despite the fact that we will seat 9 tomorrow), but I am pretty pissy about the Christmas situation. My mother won't travel for Christmas, but she will probably come out after. But then I won't see my sister or brother.

Thrive to spite them

My store is going to be open 6pm Thursday -Friday close straight. Some people like me are doing split shifts and others are doing straight 12 hour shifts. The decision to open so early wasn't made until the first week of November.

Personally I've seen stuff on FB about staying home on Tday and not shopping and normally I'd share that but I don't feel comfortable doing that.

I'm working Thanksgiving day, which isn't that big of a deal for me - my family is all out of state and Will didn't celebrate it much growing up so it's not a big deal. And his technically Canadian so he jokes he had his Thanksgiving already.

As far as I know there was no option of having Black Friday weekend off unless you were a part time worker who was also a student living on campus or campus affiliated housing that shut down and thus had to go back home for the holidays.

Teppy, for the green bean casserole, just make sure you reserve some of the onions to go on top. I didn't realize that the first year I made it and just put them all in, and then realized I didn't have any left to put on top!

I just made a co-worker mist up by giving him cookies. I think he thinks I'm a much nice person than I think I am, but he's been having a crap few weeks (12+ hour days) and I guess the little stuff helps.

The big stuff would really really help, I'm guessing.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

YOu know what doesn't help with getting all the cooking done, including what I didn't do last night as planned? SLEEPING UNTIL 11:30!! Ah well, I do love sleep.

coffee done
non-homemade cinnamon roles done

now I think shower, store for the few things I need and then pie-apalooza, with bonus side dishes.

Airline personnel work T-day - all transportation folks do. I just don't like the spread into retail. I will not shop.
