Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
me too.
My BiL is insisting on driving from VA to OH tomorrow after rush hour. I can't even. We will not be following his lead.
There is no "after rush hour" the evening before Thanksgiving.
What's the context where people are telling Noah he's Chinese, I wonder? If it's in an insulting or alienating way, no wonder he's objecting.
It comes in the context of a kid saying, "What are you?" and then Noah saying, "I'm white." and then the kid saying, "you look Asian/Chinese whatever"
He brought it up when we were at the post office and he saw a voter registration card that had Korean on it. He asked if it was Chinese.
Our neighborhood has a number of Chinese kids (his close friend from Pre-School is Chinese via Hawaii), but a larger number of Korean, Armenian, Hispanic and White kids.
Noah also told me that he didn't want to have kids because they cut your belly open to take the kid out. I had to point out that boys didn't have babies. Then he said, "Grace can't do it! They can't cut her belly! What about her g-tube?"
SO many misconceptions!
Kids don't know shit, man. I mean, they know a million times more than they did last year, or two years ago, but still.
I just saw off a friend who is moving to NYC this weekend. Sad! She's actually moving to Jess's neighborhood, but she is also Jessie, so that may be too confusing, if I were to introduce them....
Also met a guy from Ethiopia, and I was totally like, "I love the food of your people!" immediately. Like an ass. Ah well.
"Grace can't do it! They can't cut her belly! What about her g-tube?"
You have to love the brotherly concern, though.

On the I-95 corridor there is. Leaving at 3pm, NYC to DC takes between 6 and 7 hours because everyone who grew up in New Jersey leaves work early to "beat the traffic." Leaving at 7, it's a speedy 4 or 5. Maybe 5.5 in really bad weather like we're supposed to have tomorrow.

The more the merrier! Jess's for all!
The folks in the big house on the other side of the parking lot get to leave early. Us tech support peons in the bunkhouse, though, keep to business as usual. And yes, we have a shift in place on Thanksgiving, to cover the non-USians in our clientele. Though I would think Canada would say "Oh, yeah, big holiday down there, they're probably closed."
Why would we be open on Thanksgiving and not on New Year's? I would think T-day is a bigger day than New Year's. Somebody suggested it was because everyone was hung over.
Jess's for all
And all are Jesss! (I am anti excess apostrophe)

My friends never knew when anything other than July 4th was. And that was because of the 1st of July. Lots of stuff stops at the border.
I overestimated how much food I could prepare tonight with the amount of breaks I wanted to take. oh well. I have all day tomorrow.
now bed.
