That's disturbing. You're emotionally scarred and will end up badly.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hey, where do you get hair doohickies? My mother is growing her hair long, and we're looking to get her hair bands, barrettes, etc, for Christmas. Where in meatspace do people get *nice* stuff like that? I know it's not department stores, at least Macy's and Bloomies so far.

Luckily my father honestly wants socks, so I went cotton sock shopping. I do like menswear shopping. I hope my father appreciates the lack of frivolity I displayed.

I am having fashion urges for myself. I need to tamp it down before money gets spent. But every now and again I get jealous of other people looking like they dressed on purpose. And Joan Watson looked so cute!

Ulta? Sephora? Nordstrom Rack? I mostly get hair doohickeys at the drugstore.

Msbelle be sure not to mix up the "make soap" and "make cookies" steps.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

What kind of doohicky did you have in mind, ita? Scrunchies? Most drug stores or places like Target have them. I like those yoga hair bands made out of wide, colored elastic. Not sure where to get them however.

There was a nurse at UCLA who had a wonderful hairdo. She was black with long braids, and instead of putting them back in a band, she pulled her hair forward and tied the braids in a knot just over her forehead. It looked almost like a 40s updo.

I will not mix up the makings.

all the soap is grated, and the liquid soap is cooling (but I think it is to thin, boo)

half of laundry is drying.

butter is getting to room temp.

oh, and I bought my dad's Christmas - 4 hours of professional yard work. YAY Angie's list.

I am really trying to buy my family activities or services or food this year - none of really need stuff.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My MiL went to Clare's at the mall to get hair doohickeys for Aeryn. Do they have those other places than the DC suburbs?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I have done all the laundry for all Buffistas this week. Probably a dozen loads. Thank you fleas.

Good, now I don't have to.

I ran a 5k today and filed expenses this morning. I figure I'm done for the weekend.

Are they nice, though? We want to get her something fancy. Her hair's a big deal to her, symbolically, after the chemo, although she had a thick enough head of it that it mightn't have been apparent to others.

I will also get her Hello Kitty barrettes because we're smart-assed like that.

Do they have those other places than the DC suburbs?

I think I've gotten my ears pierce at Clare's ten times now, and I don't have that many holes. They're everywhere.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Spent the morning wandering around a craft fair with KCD's wife. (When did craft fairs turn into craft/home sales fairs? I bought a few things but they ended up being things for me instead of gifts. Oh well. I guess I needed some retail therapy today.

I spent the afternoon hitting up Costco and the grocery store. The cupboards are no longer bare.

In between I wandered around Best Buy and Car Toys and just couldn't make the decision to spend money for a new car stereo. I really want a USB port and it is less expensive to get a new stereo with a USB input installed than to just add a USB port. I have the money, I just couldn't pull the trigger.

as are these [link]

and these barrettes [link]

Everyone else - all three of those sights are awesome sites for gifts that do good with each purchase.
