Kaylee: You're nice, too. Mal: No, I'm not. I'm a mean old man.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

could there be some parallel drawn with a non-state of "pre-pregnancy"?

Oh, I tried. How I did try. And got lectured that "pre-diabetes" is a set of parameters that indicate a person could progress to diabetes. (Yeah, but..."could" means that they also could NOT, and if the result is NOT, and they never develop diabetes, then they never WERE "pre-diabetic" because WORDS MEAN THINGS.)

Narrrrrrrrr.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

Is our new piecemeal way really better than false teeth? I wonder. (I mean, I assume that's why so few people have dentures now, compared to my grandparents' generation. Fluoride and whatever has to be part of it, too, I guess.)

I seem to recall reading that keeping one's own teeth into the 70s and 80s has a lot of health benefits beyond the teeth themselves - like maybe some correspondence between full extraction earlier in life and dementia?

At any rate, Dad's stories of having most of his teeth pulled in his 20s left me committed to keeping mine forever if at all possible.

Swouncing

Skipping because, according to the Buffista Calendar, both yesterday (sorry!) and today have Buffistas birthdays.

Yesterday, the 14th, was ChiKat's birthday, and today is sumi's birthday.

Happy belated birthday, ChiKat!

Happy birthday, sumi!

With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!

And, of course, short Fridays and lovely weekends all around!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'm off on a semi-spontaneous solo road trip to Point Pleasant, WV. If I see the Mothman, I'll let you all know.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm right here in Somerville, hiding from the cats in my study.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Lordy. There was a child bitten by a coyote near here yesterday. I don't mean to make light (he's going to be fine, ftr), and obviously I am highly sympathetic right now, but it happened while the boy was petting it. I just can't help laughing picturing it.

Librarian Warlord

Held over from yesterday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to I! What did she get, Sox? (IOW, what will I be buying my daughter in 4/5 years?)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Happy sumi day!

Happy belated, ChiKat!

I had actual nightmares last night. That hardly ever happens, I'm more inclined to just waking up scared but not remembering why. And these did not stay with me, particularly, so, okay. But i am not well-rested.

Do we need an animated coyote to tell people not to pet coyotes?

I've been reading back through the COMM thread (on which note, that whole discussion about the guy who claimed that cunnilingus and I think doing housework was emasculating is one of the funniest things I've ever read, and ten years later it's still hilarious), and by coincidence I'd just got to this one: jengod "Coffee On My Monitor" Mar 12, 2003 2:15:39 am PST.

(PS: My sincere apologies for noting that that cunnilingus conversation took place ten years ago. Because really.)
