Heh.
I love my M-W-F aqua aerobics ladies. I'm finishing about when they start, but they always heckle me and if I finish early enough, we catch up before their class starts. They've been known to make the guards keep a lane until I'm done (normally goes down from 3 to 2) if it is crowded. (They have no compunction about invoking circle swim once I pop out, I've noticed.)
I know all about all their surgeries and kids and grandkids...
IO9 ran a "fanfic friday" for a while in which one of their regular commenters ripped a random fanfic to shreds. There was a weak disclaimer saying he likes some fanfics, this is just a bad one.
I remember that one. Annalee really didn't want to stop that feature but when she did I felt obliged to send her a supportive note. It was a quandry for her.
McAuliffe wins in Virginia. Take that, Tea Party!
Here is why I weight gender in voting: Generally, the candidates for City Council seemed fine, with varying emphases on issues I care more or less about, but none of the ones I knew anything about seemed crazy or bad. As it turned out, one woman got voted off the council after two more didn't run for re-election, and four men got added, leaving just one woman on the City Council. That is not right!
It's funny, though, I bet at least one of the incumbent was voted out by accident, with the preferential voting. It certainly happened to me, where I ended up ranking one of them much lower than I meant to, but didn't care enough to re-do the whole ballot.
Woke up vaguely hearing sirens, but they sounded distant, so I was pretty surprised to find an ambulance and a fire truck in my cul-de-sac when I got to the front door. Not enough activity to tell which house they were at much less what was going on. I hope everyone down at that end of the street is okay.
I think I have met my excitement quota.
I'm not sure I'm excited about McAuliffe winning in VA. But I'm ecstatic that Kookinelli lost.
Rob Ford: The Audacity of Dope.
It's almost like "Tommy Boy" took a really dark turn or something, isn't it? Although that joke dates back to conversation I with someone about Stringer Bell and what he would call his memoirs.
Rob Ford is a big story for Toronto, but not so much elsewhere. Kind of like Marion Barry in DC. Deserves big local headlines, but a side show everywhere else.
