Last night was my company's Halloween party, and office services set up the video wall as a giant karaoke machine with a DJ. It was AWESOME, except I realized I have no list of "good karaoke songs" in my head to pull out at times like this. When good songs come on, I instantly recognize them and sing along, but when it comes to choosing something for myself, I blank out. And this is a problem because I have a pretty good voice! And I like to sing!
SO. I am putting this to the hivemind. GIVE ME GOOD KARAOKE SONGS.
Last night I did Proud Mary (rocked it!) and Livin' On A Prayer (turns out I only know the chorus, oops!), but I need more.
GIVE ME GOOD KARAOKE SONGS.
I've done very little karaoke, but I've always wanted to do "What's So Funny 'bout Peace, Love and Understanding."
I'm not sure I actually know that well enough, but I will add it to the list!
[Yes, there is an actual list. It's in Simplenote.]
Yeah, I have found the key thing is picking a song you actually know all the words to already. And also is in a good range for you. So, I think "Since U Been Gone" is a great karaoke song, but that's for me! Also anything by Madonna. Or at least, pre-1990 Madonna.
I am Woman
Hit me with your best shot
Stand By Your Man
Call Me
Baby's Got Back
Sweet Child O Mine
Go cape, -t!
I have never sung karaoke, which seems odd given how much I've sung in my life both on stage, as well as in the car and around the house. And it's not like I'm avoiding it, just that the opportunity has never come up. Odd. But I guess if I ever get the chance I would probably pick something like "Masquerade" or maybe a Cat Stevens song. I know a good many of those and he sings in my range.
I only have regulars for myself, and add on rare occasions. Though last night ended up duet-ing with a friend on "who says you can't go home". Usually I do "son of a preacher man" and occasionally lately "you can't hurry love"
Go cape, -t!
I need to wear my Arrow cape today.
Actually, I need to wear it every day. What is wrong with me?
