Suzi, that's awesome!
Sometimes I get fake LinkedIn requests, but they're easy to spot, since they rarely go to the email address I have on mty profile there. So when I got a link request from Henry Don Miranda Aka:Enrique Don Miranda I assume it's more of the same.
But...it's to the right address, and the links look legit, so I log in to see, and yes. There's a page for him with the job of
Fugitive wanted: call police: warrant out for arrest
listed, and whut? Since when has LinkedIn been used like this? I would report the profile, but I noticed that we have a Buffista in common, and...I'm just confused.
Anyone else get something like this?
Scenario:
Last week I organized a meeting with 3 other faculty and said that lunch would be provided.
I sent them links to the website of the vendor, and even included separate links for soup, sandwich, salad. I told them they could also choose a "pick 2". In a follow up email, I asked for them to provide their side.
I had the list ready to go. Called in the order. A staff member is picking it up. Done. I'm working on the agenda now.
Got a phone call from one of the attendees.
Is lunch being ordered? Otherwise I can pick up something for myself.
Okay.
Um.
You ordered lunch. It is being picked up right now. Did you really think that after ordering and all that - there would be no lunch for you?
What?

I am learning that people can just be flaky. Or their short-term memory has a rapid turnover. Or something.

We're having apple turnovers for lunch?
Just read Beep Me after few days off the board. Burrell, I'm so very sorry. My deepest sympathies to you and yours.
I am learning that people can just be flaky
You know, you are probably correct.
However, my forehead is sore from hitting the desk.
Ooh, I love those flaky turnovers!
Now I want an apple turnover, and *I'm* the one who caused it!
So, there have been rumors for some time that my department was going to be moving spaces. And over the past couple of months, people have said to me that they had definitely heard we were moving, but not people in charge of that kind of thing. Then the other day, people started walking around, looking at our space with blueprints in hand. My boss still has not been told anything official! Then today, there was (a) an all-staff meeting where, if your vision was good enough, you could see where we're going on a new floorplan slide, and (b) a colleague came browsing around, commenting on the good light we get! And we still have not been told via channels if/where/when we are moving! It is a little crazy-making.
I found out this afternoon that one of my coworkers is retiring in December, and another is having open-heart surgery. This whole place is like, if you haven't worked here for 10 years, everybody assumes you'll leave and doesn't tell you anything. Which kind of makes you think about leaving...
