This is so nice. Having everyone together for my birthday. Of course, you could smash in all my toes with a hammer and it will still be the bestest Buffy Birthday Bash in a big long while.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Well today started strangely. I woke up and decided I'd go into the office today. I rarely go in on Monday's. Tuesday is my typical day.

So, I'm there just getting into the groove with working and the power goes our on our floor. Then we realize it isn't just our floor or our building but our whole 4 building campus. Our emergency generators provide some minor lighting, wifi, phones, and a thing by the elevator that beeps every 2 seconds. I happen to sit just about as close to the elevator as possible.

I ditched after about 45 minutes of beep-beep-beep and am back, working at home, in my beep-free house. About 3 hours after the power went out, the power company was able to get it back on, but I'm not going back in.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I don't know if this is substantive enough for Good Stuff, but it's awfully cute.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Cleolinda's new tumblr is full of Jilli-type things, which I believe are of interest to some of you.

Heh. Some of the things in her new tumblr are reblogged straight from my tumblr. (Cleo and I talked about it in backchannel.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Super cute! Pretty soon I'm going to have to go to all babies and animals in Halloween costumes, but after that!

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Hi, chrismg! I don't believe I have seen you in these parts before. I'm sort of assuming that you are in other threads that I just don't frequent, and that if you Natter much, it just happens to happen at times when I am doing the skippy-skimmy thing. There are definitely some very pretty things on Cleolinda's tumblr that I had not seen before, especially Jeremy Brett as a vampire. Very pretty.

Punishingly Intricate

I can usually manage to find boot-cut jeans despite the skinny jeans trend (which needs to die now [hipster dudes, I AM TALKING TO YOU; THOSE JEANS ARE NOT FLATTERING TO YOUR JUNK]). But the 80s throwback dolman/kimono/batwing sleeves are making it really hard for me to find sweaters I like.

And FUCK wedges, man. I hate those things forever.

I'M the Anti-Steph! I like all 3 of these things!

I should try on a pair of skinny jeans, but I can't imagine owning them. I feel pretty confident that the waistband will show much crack when I bend on most styles.

Fortunately there are now skinnyish jeans that don't also have a super low rise. The ones I have from Banana Republic, for example, are mid-rise. BR jeans are my go to jeans, for the most part, these days. Burrell, I just got some boot cut jeans there not too long ago (probably the ones that didn't suit § ita §). They are spendy but not $200 spendy at least. I have friends who do well with jeans at Old Navy but their jeans haven't fit me right for the last couple of years.

Speaking of fashion, I recently took advantage of Nordstrom's free personal stylist service. Fascinating! There's no obligation to buy anything, although I did. It took a lot of the pain out of shopping for me, like being overwhelmed by the options and getting tired out just looking at so many clothes. Plus my stylist was very nice and fun and she took some time to understand my style. She didn't ask me what my budget was but she brought me clothing in a range of prices, including stuff that was on sale. I didn't end up making any huge changes to my current style but I got a couple of pieces I may not have tried.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I have gotten some nice pants form Woman Within.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Do you wear them all together? That actually probably looks pretty damn stylish. I admit I dress like a hobo.

Because books.

I got jeans at a Banana Republic outlet once, and they were my favorite jeans for about four years. Bootcut, not too low-rise, good quality, comfortable. I also like Calvin Klein -- I usually look at Marshall's or TJ Maxx, or one of the resale shops.
