Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
My friend is in London on her honeymoon and tonight she's seeing a play that stars Rupert Grint, Colin Morgan, Ben Whishaw and Mr. Bates from Downton. She tweeted me during intermission. Fandoms are colliding and her head is exploding.

Thanks!
I should spend more time outside, but it's not warm enough to just sit, and in my meanderings earlier, I bought a totally unnecessary jacket/sweater thing. It was at Goodwill, but STILL.
Just for reference, the dude in Hil's FB thread talking about (defending?) Julianna Hough is a ... "friend" of mine and MM's. For YEARS we have tried arguing with him and eventually just gave up on it. It's gratifying to see others kind of puppy pile on him and his white, male privilege. I'd like to see more. I'll get popcorn.
I'm being an adult, and renewing my AAA membership before my car is actually disabled. Plus, paying off parking fines before the car gets towed or booted, sending off payment for medical procedures, et cetera. It's still daunting to see the amount of money going out all at once, but it's nice to be caught up.
If I see one more person reference "White Chicks" in defense of anything, I'm gonna have to choke a bitch.
Before you do, please let me get a Nutty Bar.
It makes me crazy that people can't think for two seconds and realize that the only bad thing that happens to white people in situations like that is our feelings get hurt.
I find it amusing because over the past few years I have become more aware of my own privilege and started examining things I have done/ways I thought, etc (poor Debet - she often gets the brunt of my self-musings and often ridiculous questions) and trying to change them so that I can talk about them when kids ask me questions and such in the classroom. Tony likes to THINK himself enlightened and educated, but in reality, he's one of those guys who makes racist jokes and then justifies them by saying that he makes fun of everybody, so it's okay. I've tried telling him how very much it's not but my head kept meeting the wall. It's totally fun for me to watch others tell him how very wrong like a wrong thing he is.
