I really don't understand the extreme hatred for Obama. There was a great deal of hate for Bush, but it wasn't the same. There was still a measure of basic respect for the office. I don't remember an active campaign to push Bush to failure on every initiative.

yeah well, it is one thing to call names, it is quite another to have a concerted planned, funded effort for the Obama administration to fail from minute 1.
Not to mention the racial element to the anti-Obama sentiment. I don't really think this is a case of "both sides are culpable" given the enmity (and racism) I see at Tea Party rallies.
